About Viva Dalston

Stoke Newington has already established itself as the home of London’s hippest hipsters, and with the addition of Viva Dalston on Stoke Newington Road, there are no signs of this slowing down. This Mexican eatery is striking out in an area known for its plethora of great Turkish restaurants. Bringing together a crowd that is young, fun and keen to try anything, the tapas and cocktail blend is proving to be a winning combination for London’s East End.

More about Viva Dalston, London

Since throwing open its doors in 2012, Viva Dalston on Stoke Newington Road (just up the road from Dalston Junction) has gone from strength to strength. It made a name for itself as a reliably good cocktail joint, serving industrial strength margaritas and Mad Men-style whiskey sours with small plates of Mexico’s finest cuisine in London. There is little about Mexican food that is subtle, but insofar as Viva seeks to serve big flavours at affordable prices, it is succeeding enormously.

This being London’s Stoke Newington, there is a predictable uniformity in the area’s restaurants and Viva Dalston knows its lines perfectly. Expect bare brick walls and kitschy furnishings at this Stoke Newington Road eatery, together with East End-standard bar staff with tattoo sleeves. This adds to some of the place’s charm – after all this is home to Mexican food, but they don’t want you to forget that this is Mexico in Dalston. Guests are encouraged to pick from a menu which demonstrates the kitchen’s fondness for simplicity – there’s nachos and tacos aplenty here, just don’t expect anything too fancy. Diners are heading here for great food with even better cocktails in an atmosphere befitting its Stoke Newington locale.

Absolutely love VIVA. Every time I've been the food and cocktails have been great and really quick to arrive. But what makes it such a special place is the staff who are all so helpful and friendly.

I had my fiances 30th birthday party was really great. Staff were friendly! Only thing I would say is that they were a bit unorganized, and when I called to add people to the list they didn't have my booking on there it seemed so luckyI had called. Cocktails took a bit long to arrive, but other then that good food nice cocktails! We had a great time!

Brilliant restaurant with excellent food, friendly staff and a wonderful selection of cocktails. We have been several times and definitely think it's one of the best Mexican places in London. The tapas style menu means you can try various dishes at a very reasonable price. Definitely give it a go!

Absolutely wonderful evening at Viva. The staff went above and beyond to make our experience a special one. Drinks are fantastic - we sampled some new summer cocktails and were served a fantastic red wine. Food was glorious - filling and delicious. Love, love, love this place

Viva is a local favourite of ours. The food is faultless, delicious & features lots of things not typically found in Mexican & South American restarants. There's lots of choice for vegetarians, and the cocktails are tasty & innovative. Very well priced too, and great atomosphere.
