As you may expect, the waffles at Waffle Berry are so good that you could serve nothing else and people would still come flocking back. But Waffe Berry in Bushey doesn’t rest on its batter-crusted laurels. This fantastic restaurant on High Road in southern Watford worships the Holy Trinity of pan-cooked treats: waffles, crepes and pancakes, all true to their Belgian, French and American heritage, respectively. It cannot be beaten for a sweet or savoury start to the day, but it may be hard to leave before nightfall. Waffe Berry goes way beyond the average pancake parlour with its inventive lunchtime offerings of salads, burgers, sandwiches and omelettes, with a range of hearty sides from hummus and olives to cheesy fries and jacket potatoes. If you still have room for dessert, sweet tooths are in the right place with Danish cakes, chocolate fondue and creamy Italian gelato among the long list of choices.
