We had an excellent meal in pleasant surroundings, and enjoyed excellent service. The beer was also spot on. I would recommend the Woolly Sheep for a well priced, good quality meal.

2nd visit in two weeks and delicious both times. Maybe a little heavy handed on salt added to mash but not enough to complain. Lovely inn full of character, very busy need to book.

Lovely hotel and pub, food beautiful, breakfast amazing, great location. Room was a little cramped, would prefer a larger room. Close to all amenities in the heart of the town.

The food and service was all very good. Great lunchtime menu and chef prepared a special salad for me due to a dairy allergy limiting my choices.

The food was mediocre. Baked Brie turned out to be a few pieces in a dish with raw garlic all instead of a melted whole Brie which the price suggested. The main was shoulder of lamb on sloppy mash which was poorly disguised by an overblown Yorkshire pudding. A raspberry mousse followed. This had a grainy texture as if recently defrosted, the ice cream on top was better. Overall a very mediocre Sunday lunch although as always the beer was fantastic

The food is lovely, and the staff helpful. The pub /restaurant is really nice and full of character. We were disappointed with their treatment of us as gluten free guests. They have some items labelled as "free of gluten", and some things they can adapt. We ordered Sunday dinner, we couldn't have gravy or yorkshire puds, then they told us they fry the roasties in a fryer used for wheat so we couldn't have them either. So they said we could have extra veg and mash, but that didn't happen. So, thanks for trying Wooly Sheep, but it wouldn't take much for you to be able to provide really good gluten free food, a bit of instant gravy, and a bit of extra veg or some frozen GF yorkshires warmed in the oven would have made all the difference to us. As it was we had a nice meal but my hubby left hungry and we are unlikely to be back

The food was absolutely amazing! Portion sizes were not to be sniffed at and the black pudding was delicious. Would highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding - husband said it was the best he had ever had!! Breakfast was also spot on

Disappointed with sweet, mixed berry Eaton mess, it was just a pile of cream with few berries no meringue. At £5 a person a bit expensive.

Arrived on a busy Friday tea time staff were busy but very polite and helpful, room was a good size, with comfy beds, room clean and well equipped. Had a lovely evening meal a little too much salt for our taste but we still enjoyed it. Breakfast was OK good selection of food. A nice quaint pub with atmosphere.

As usual top quality dining. Really tasty beef Sunday dinner with great vegetables and not a carrot in sight. Had mojito cheesecake for dessert. A little sharp for my taste but otherwise worth a try.

Great pub but went primarily for food and the batter on the fish and chips is just not what I expected ... being hard and crunchy and instead of pea purée mushy peas would have been better for me

Having to pass through a crowd of extremely drunk people is not my idea of a fun night out (It was a Saturday). One person actually careered into a sign sending it crashing to the ground as he tried to navigate his way around a corner. The food was reasonable but not anything to shout about - overall - disappointing. The potato really did taste as though it had been re-heated and I wish I had pointed this out at the time. The server was polite and helpful and some attempt was made to accommodate one of our parties' allergies - although initially they still sent out the food with the sauce that could harm her!!! I won't be rushing back or recommending to others.

You can't fault this place. There were 8 of us for lunch. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the food arrived in a timely fashion. The menu is imaginative and great value. Overall, fantastic food, great beer. I'll be back.

Staff helpful but looking after bar and tables as well so hard to get their attention even though it wasn't very busy. Just 2 of them. Food underwhelming and nothing summery (light / salad) on the menu! Just 2 fish dishes including fish and chips amongst lots of meat and not much vegetarian. Beer top quality!
