Open every day of the week and offering you an impressive array of Punjabi food, Whitechapel’s Zaza’s is taking care of all your senses. Taken from the heart of the city of Gujranwala, Zaza’s restaurant delivers this traditional Punjabi cuisine to the UK in emphatic style. Gujranwala has long been known as the ‘City of wrestlers’ or as they say in Punjabi “Phelwana da shehar” and has produced some of the finest wrestlers and bodybuilders of the subcontinent. Conscious about their health, these wrestlers chose a strict diet of healthy grilled food, the most popular amongst them being Chicken Malaye Tikka and Chicken Kasoori Tikka. Other favourites includes Haleem, Nihari, Rogni Nan and Chicken and Lamb Karahi.
Based around these traditions, the family recipes have been added to and passed down for years, and these flavours have now drifted onto the streets of Whitechapel in London. Run by three brothers who share a passion for the food of their country and their heritage, Zaza’s Restaurant on Whitechapel Road is fast becoming popular amongst locals and city folk alike. Come to central Whitechapel to experience the warmth of food and family. Of course as a grill there is always room for lamb chops, the measure of a great restaurant
The Service was great, was a nice chilled atmosphere and the Food was lovely! Me and my family will definitely be going back without a doubt!
Going to Zaza's quite regularly as the food is great, the staff is nice and prices are reasonable. Always a very comfortable and pleasant atmosphere there.
What a fantastic night. Great food, good friendly service, pleasant ambiance, excellent price. My Canadian friends were very impressed. This was our second visit having previously been regular customers at Tayyabs. We think Zazas is much better. We'll be back!
Six of us had a great night here. Nice decor, large window front so you can see outside, intriguing brick arches in the gents! Fantastic food and service. We'll be back!
A lot of reviews compare the food at this place as similar to nearby Tayyabs and Needo's. I have been visiting those restaurants for years and can confidently say that compared to them the food at zaza's is highly average, and very bland tasting. The king prawn grill @£13 for 3 pieces was a major disappointment. The chicken Karachi was also very tasteless. The grilled items like seekh kebab, chicken tikka and tandoori chicken were okay but not particularly enjoyable. The restaurant has a nice seating area and the staff are friendly; but that's not enough to woo me away from my favourite restaurant in the vicinity, which is still Tayyabs.
Our third visit and still impressed with the food and the service. It was a good night for myself and my guests. Only hiccup was when we asked for another plate of rice and the waiter brought it over from another table!! Interesting lol.
Good food and friendly staff. Food served within 10min. I recommend this place for casual meal.
Food was cold bad service, lamb tasted like it was gone off. Not enough varieties of food on buffet. Not happy will not be going there again.
