Nestled right in the heart of Edinburgh’s theatre district, Zucca provides a refined Italian dining experience, perfect for a pre-theatre meal and attracting both tourists and locals alike to its location on Grindlay Street in the West End. With its menu of regional Italian cuisine and an extensive wine list, Zucca is a popular choice for lunch and dinner. To guarantee a table, making a reservation in advance is recommended.
Decorated with chic furniture vintage film posters lining the walls, Edinburgh’s Zucca is the perfect place in the West End for a pre-theatre meal. Whet your appetite by starting off with the bruschetta or Scottish smoked mackerel, before moving on to a rustic Italian main. We recommend trying one of Zucca’s pizzas, cooked to perfection just like how they are done back in Italy. Go veg with the pizza spinaci (tomato, mozzarella, spinach, ricotta) or feast on the pizza alla diavola (tomato, mozzarella, spicy salami sausage and chilli peppers).
Other delicious options include an array of classic pastas as well as some meat and seafood dishes. Try the seafood fettuccine pasta with fennel, cherry tomatoes, chilli and garlic, or the lemon and thyme chicken breast served with cannellini beans and vegetables. Located in the West End of Edinburgh, in close proximity to the Royal Lyceum, the Usher hall and the Travers theatre, Zucca can get busy – book in advance to secure a seat!
Excellent service for a quick pre-theatre meal, and great food. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the ambience cheerful. And it's right next to the Lyceum.
Eight of us went to Zucca prior to the theatre. Very efficient service and excellent food. We all really enjoyed our food. Thanks Zucca. X
Excellent meal, as always. Pleasant attentive staff and superb quality. The chocolate box dessert is fantastic but the homemade pasta is always perfectly cooked. The only place I'll eat gnocchi!
The over all experience was very good. The food was most enjoyable - with choices to suit all palettes accompanied by excellent wine and service.
Zucca food is more imaginative than many Italian restaurants & wine list is great. Pre-theatre menu offers good choice of delicious meals @ v reasonable prices. Relaxed vibe, music etc. Very Friendly & attentive staff, who ensure time to enjoy meal, but also finish in time for show! Wish I could go more often.
The visit to the restaurant was fine. We booked for an early lunch as we going to the theatre at 2pm and service in Zucca can be a little slow , as is getting the bill. We all enjoyed our meal but felt that the lunch menu could do with being updated. The same things have been on offer for the last 3 months. Staff are always pleasant and attentive.
First class food and first class service as usual at Zucca. The set menu is well priced and the extras are also by Edinburgh standards very reasonable. The steaks were perfectly cooked. Recommend the risotto - it is always delicious.
Great food and service at a reasonable price. The mushroom risotto was one of the best I have ever eaten. I will certainly visit Zucca again and recommend it to my friends
Food excellent, service warm friendly and efficient. Pasta was very well cooked and presented. Zucca has become one of our favorite estaurants and is in a good location for us
Very enjoyable pre-theatre dinner. Plenty choices, nice portion size, good list of Italian wines by the glass or bottle, friendly efficient service and courses served in a timely manner even in a full restaurant. We especially enjoyed our swordfish, fennel and orange starter and a delicious main of fettucine with king prawn in a very tasty sauce.
