Malton's restaurants are right at the heart of Yorkshire's dining boom, serving up classic British dishes and totally new conceptions for the county's culinary community. Take Chapter One Bistro, for example. Situated in the centre of town in a charming grade two listed building, its chefs take North Sea cod and turn it into succulent goujons, create mouth-watering Yorkshire gammon platters, and slow roast lamb shank that will set anyone salivating. As the seasons change, so do the menus, resulting in a kaleidoscope of shifting menus throughout the year. So you can come back every month and expect something new.

But British food isn't the end of the story at Malton's restaurants. Far from it. The town is also home to excellent Mexican eateries like El Gringos, which bring a dash of Tex-Mex energy (and spiciness) to the Dales. If you want to grab a lunchtime taco with a cerveza, that's no problem, and groups can tuck into plates piled high with enchiladas or cheese-encrusted nachos. There's homemade guacamole by the bowl, Texas-style giant burgers and as much BBQ chicken or ribs as a diner can handle. Not exactly classic Yorkshire cuisine, but a treat nonetheless.
