Absolutely outstanding! Head and shoulders above the rest. A fine dining experience that is delicious, well presented and pleasantly informal. With enough space between each course that you could converse and almost forget that another was on its way. Each dish is inventive and utterly divine. Honestly, start to finish it was one of the finest fish suppers I've ever had the pleasure of tasting!
Super and unique experience. Amazing food, style (beautifully simple) and lovely service. My only comment would be that I’d like to see another menu, one that’s simpler, more affordable. An every day menu. It would mean I could visit more frequently.

This restaurant is the best in Brighton. The good was exquisite and the service was impeccable. I cannot recommend it enough. Every course was amazing.
From the moment we walked into their beautiful restaurant, we were met with a wonderful ambiance, a big smile from their amazing Front of House and asked to choose our table. The service is second to none- unobtrusive but so efficient and the wine pairing was very good and complemented the truly exceptional food. We even had a touch of theatre with the second course- Rockpool. Be prepared to be wowed by the food, it was exquisite, every taste was like a culinary explosion in the mouth. We never felt rushed- in fact you have your table for the whole evening , nicely spaced tables and lots of very happy diners in this welcoming atmosphere. It felt like a personal dinner party in a big house. The front of house musty have overheard me saying it was my sons birthday and the dessert came with a birthday candle. Its all these little touches that give this great little restaurant the 5 stars on Trip Advisor it so rightly deserves. We have eaten at most of the best restaurants in Brighton but this has now become our new favourite. We will certainly be back again and again and again!!!
I visited The Little Fish Market for the first time with my husband and it was perfect on all counts. All the courses were cooked to perfection with everything complimenting one another. It was good to try a fish I had never even heard of, I thought I knew most varieties but had never knew slip sole - wonderful. The service was excellent and all it was definitely a meal to savour and remember.
From the moment Rob greeted us at the door it became one of our most memorable dining experiences. Each and every one of the five courses were outstanding. The miso glazed mackerel was out of this world, cooked to perfection with such a delicate flavor and the fish just melted in my mouth. Followed by the sea bream with it's crispy skin that was so delightful I didn't want it to end. The main dish, a trio of delights with halibut, crab ravioli and the corn and girolle mushrooms. All three were perfect and the various combinations of taste made it truly unforgettable. Then just when you think it's all over, their version of strawberries and cream was incredible - finely diced strawberries topped with a clotted cream ice cream complemented with a small crispy sponge topped with the finest strawberry sorbet. We will definitely become frequent visitors.
We had a great experience at The Little Fish Market. The guys there really looked after us & engaged with humour, in a relaxed & friendly style, yet still provided an exemplary service ....... and the food was amazing! Unusual, interesting dishes, with lovely match wines, each presented beautifully & as delicious to eat as appealing to look at. We loved it.
The Little Fish Market is fantastic, this is the second time I have been, the food, wine and service is first class. It is a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere with just the right amount of attention and detail, I can't recommend it enough!! If you go say hello to the chef he loves to engage with is customers.
We were bowled over by the service, the informal, friendly ambiance, and the food - the Food! Every course was beautifully composed of well-chosen prime ingredients, and every one was delicious. The wine (Je t'aime mail j'ai soif", which perfectly captured my own feelings) from a beautifully tempting list, was excellent....At no point did we feel pressured to drink more, leave earlier, or talk to our server (the knowledgeable co-patron) for more than a comfortable length of time; we couldn't have felt more welcome. This is truly art. But you need to book early - with only 20 covers it gets booked up fast.
Second visit to this very nice, friendly and ambitious restaurant. Of the four of us, two ate and enjoyed everything put in front of them, but for the other two there was simply too much - a frequent problem with the tasting menu approach, I think. I write as someone defeated by the ''l'Enclume experience. It's worth a thought; one of the four of us is a big eater, one isn't, and none of us wanted to send a message back to the talented chef that we'd turned down his excellent cooking. Good place. We shall be back when we've saved up enough.
This was the third time for us at TLFM and the first with the five course set menu. It's amazing - each course has been really carefully thought through and the portion sizes are perfect for such a feast. Using fresh, locally sourced ingredients the set menu can (and probably should) be augmented by a well chosen flight of wines to match the full flavours of each course. If you love seafood and want somewhere for a real treat, with a cosy and friendly ambience, you'll struggle to find anywhere better in the city. Am already looking forward to our next visit!
What a treat! The food is just fantastic - flavourful and presented beautifully. We particularly liked the slip sole dish, however, all the courses were a joy. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere - intimate because it isn't packing lots of people in, so there's space between tables and the table is yours for the evening. The service is wonderful - Rob clearly loves what he does - and reads people perfectly, ensuring they get the experience they want - there is no rush, but no delay - one of the nicest dining experiences we've had - thank you Duncan and Rob!
Duncan the chef .Rob the front of house,sommelier,waiter,barIsta.You would think how on earth can that work . But boy does it . quite possibly one of the friendliest and slickest fine dining restaurants you are ever likely to visit. Been visiting for almost 4 years and always reserve our next visit whilst we are there.The food and service would put a lot of Michelin starred establishments to shame. If fish is your choice then book this restaurant relax and enjoy what is put before you.We defy any lover of fine food to be disappointed. Alan and Shirley London.
We had another wonderful meal at the Little Fish Restaurant, this time on a Tuesday evening. They remembered us and exactly where we'd sat on our last visit which was an impressive start to the evening. The set menu was enticing and we started with an oyster encrusted in grapefruit sorbet - utterly delicious. The rest of the 5 courses lived up to this early promise. We remain very impressed. The standard of cuisine is as good as it gets south o London and the atmosphere is very informal and relaxed without compromising on service. No complaints!
Didn't know what to expect as only had a "heads up" from someone in Waitrose! From walking in and finally leaving the whole experience was exceptional. The fixed menu was a delight - everything was perfectly cooked, co-ordinated and a visual treat. Decided to take the wine flight with the food and , I must say, these guys know their wine (and their food - obviously)! I've dined at quite a few high-end London venues but this one blew us away. Can't wait to go back as the menu will be constantly changing as the seasons pass.
Superb food from Duncan Ray, excellent, professional and friendly service from Robert Smith; relaxing and intimate atmosphere. When you are a Michelin star ticker like us you are brought to the shallowness of that when you discover a restaurant like this. Superbly produced, flavoursome uncomplicated food like this vastly supersedes the frippery of the amuse bouche and other distractions. Nathan Outlaw may be the name for fish only tasting menus but I am sure even his graciousness would accept Duncan Ray competes at every level
Really fab time - arrived a little early and had the pick of tables. Really warm welcome, the guy on front of house was attentive, really helpful and fun too. The food was amazing, loved the Carlingford oyster with elderflower and jersey cream, the mackerel, sea bream and halibut incredible too. To top that the strawberrys and cream was a real surprise and so luscious. Thank you chef. Would certainly visit again and highly recommend the Little Fish Market. JB
This is truly a gem ! Award winning dishes created by a skilled chef who obviously cares deeply about his diners experiences . My Taste bugs happily danced while presentation was a feast for my eyes . The service was of class and made me feel welcomed . I would highly suggest if in Brighton and wanting a high quality meal book ! I came all the way from Canada to endulge and I was not disappointed !
Most fabulous evening, warmly welcomed by the front of house, personable and charismatic Rob. Shortly followed by a superbly prepared 5 course fish dinner by Duncan, which awakened our taste buds and tantalised our culinary imagination. My hubbie opted for the paired wine, as it was his birthday, for which he could not give enough praise. The attention to detail by Rob, coupled with the exquisitely prepared gourmet food is s a marriage made in heaven.
