Agra Indian Cuisine - Beckenham

Somehow, not even the walls feel similar to standard Indian restaurants at Agra Indian Cuisine in Beckenham – a long galley-like space with exposed brick walls and low-hanging lampshades, this dining room could easily be a groovy London wine bar. The food, though, is where Agra really sets itself apart from other Indian restaurants in Beckenham, presenting a spread of familiar tandoori, biryani, balti and traditional standards as well as some signature Agra in-house specialties. Many names are familiar – you’re looking at jalfrezi, vindaloo, dhansak, saagwala, rogan josh and the like – but the superb presentation is not so, and the complexity of tastes just confirms that this popular place on Upper Elmers End Road is a cut above the pack in Greater London. If you’re overwhelmed by the incredible selection on the menu, you can’t go wrong with the trademark Agra zamiri (orange) chicken.
