Thinking about making a Big Red Bus booking?
So, how many pizza places do you know that are owned by a sculptor? Well, we can come up with
at least one: The Big Red on Deptford Church Street smack in the middle of Deptford is owned by
John Cierach, a local sculptor. And that’s not the only unusual thing about the restaurant: true to
its name, you’ll find the venue located in an unused double-decker bus. Not only does the Big Red
make wonderful artisan pizzas topped with some of the finest ingredients that borough market has
to offer, it now makes handmade Italian egg pasta fresh every day, with a range of authentic pasta
sauces cooked by Big Red’s chef.
The heated outdoor terrace is delightful on a sunny day or starry night, and the wider garden space
plays host to a foray of herbs and flowers and is a wonderful place to be on a warm summer day,
right by the creek. The Big Red in Deptford really lends itself to families, the kids love the idea of
eating on a bus, and if they get fed up can run around the secure garden. With this in mind cinema
screenings for kids on sat and Sunday mornings are being planned, as well as a delicious brunch
menu.
