We were placed on a small table which meant it was difficult to fit everything on the table at once. We felt the portion sizes were quite small and when the waitress brought us dessert menus it took her over 20 minutes to come back to us by which time we had changed our minds and asked for the bill

Such a shame that a very nice meal ended with the waitress asking "Do you want me to bring your change?"...... I would have tipped, but to be asked for a tip is just plain wrong. 20 years a catering manager..... I'd be horrified to find a member of staff asking for a tip. So the 75p we left, which you probably thought was an insult, was meant to tell you something!

The waitress was friendly. The food wasn't as good as I epected it to be. The boeuf bourguignon was quite watery and the apple and blackberry (I think) crumble didn't really have any crumble. But I did eat every scrap so it wasn't horrible, just not to my taste I suppose. The decor is nice.

I booked the restaurant to celebrate my wife's 60th birthday. Having been there on several previous occasions and had a wonderful meal with great atmosphere I was expecting the same. It was extremely disappointing - the service was clinical and the food lacked flavour. I will not be rushing back.

We went for the pre-theatre menu, 2 courses for £11.95. I expected small portions for the price. The meals that arrived were delicious and big portions. Brilliant value for money, we’ll definitely be back!

I really feel like something went a little bit wrong in the kitchen? I have been here before but was confused with some of the menu items, as what we received was not what was described. Firstly the seabass with tomato and olive tapenade on menu was seabass with a bit of chopped onion and olive. My partner's side dish of dauphinoise potato was cheesy mash?? My mushroom and tarragon risotto from menu was mushroom and cheese no tarragon and very rich....Desert... Well this was the most disappointing as just nowhere near what we ordered, menu was a chocolate roulade with black cherry compote which turned out to be a slab of shop bought chocolate cake with that thick frosting, and my partners was a blackberry and hazelnut tart which was another shop bought tart case very thick and dry with some thin blackberry sauce poured in and 3 hazelnuts on top? I just think maybe there was a problem or a new chef. In no way was this a bad meal just not what we ordered.

Food was good but th portions were slightly reduced. Service was acceptable, a bit slow with the liqueur coffee. The room was half full. I expected it to be busier although it was the day after Valentine's Day.

Excellent food at affordable prices. The sea bass fish was beautiful as were the accompanying vegetables. Out of four of us, three had the apple and berry crumble, which was very tasty but I found the crumble a bit stodgy. My friend said the creme brulee was delicious.

Pleasant friendly atmosphere. Ate from a la Carte menu. Very quick service. Good sized meals in fact too large. All piping hot. Offered bottle of water. All in all a lovely meal on a snowy night. Also live music from a singer and guitarist which was a bonus.

Another excellent night at Bistro Franc, food excellent as always, great atmosphere, and staff as lovely as ever. The restaurant was very busy so a few choices not available, which is great news for a restaurant on a cold Tuesday night in January. Still plenty of choice though

The food wasn’t as good as it had previously been. The linguine pasta sauce was watery and didn’t coat the pasta. The potato fondant with the duck looked like it had been boiled in stock only about a week earlier! The sea bass wasn’t great and the dish as a whole was very salty. The service was very poor as when we asked for something it took a while to get it. No one was apologetic either.
