There are plenty of top notch curry houses in Portsmouth, and indeed, up and down the length and breadth of the UK, and, as one would expect in such a competitive and cutthroat market, there is no recommendation quite like longevity. Lucky then, for Bombay Express Balti House, that they have been in business for over 20 years, building up a reputation for quality and a local following that comes back time and again to enjoy the huge range of Indian offerings available. Expect to encounter all your favourites, from starters such as samosas, poppadoms, pakoras and kebabs, classic curries and their own house signature, which, as you might guess from the name, is the Balti. Pay them a visit at their location on Albert Road for one of the best curry houses in Southsea, if not the whole of Portsmouth, but do remember to book in advance – they do get crowded on occasion, and you wouldn’t want to miss out for one second.
We were a large party so we had the set menu for £15. Plenty of well-cooked, tasty dishes and the usual friendly, attentive service. Happy to recommend - and you can bring your own drink.
The food was great with a big selection to choose from, all the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was a lovely evening out!
Have been here so many times, fav Indian restraunt in Portsmouth, Literally love the staff here so friendly! Food equally as good, and cheap as anything so perfect for students too!!
Lovely staff lovely food. Had to wait a while though which was fine as we had our drink. Once food come was value for money. So much I had to take half home. Will certainly be returning
Lovely restaurant, amazing food. Staff are so welcoming. I think it's good how you can take your own drink. Good value for money. Definitely be going back again x
Wish i had booked direct with Bombay as when we arrived they didn't seem to have our reservation Friendly and good service and food was delicious
Great food and service. Just a shame that we hadn't to wait a while for our table. Food was delicious and will definitely go there again
Delicious, very good value and reminiscent of curry houses of our youth (with better food!) The vegetable thali and chicken jalfarazi both fresh and lovely.
Great food and friendly staff but terrible seating. Cramped cold right by the toilet. We booked long in advance so could of sat in decent seat.
