The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. The food was beautiful with lots of choice on the menu. We enjoyed every single dish as well as the dessert.
Food is absolutely excellent, and outstanding value for money. It’s a pretty small place though, so the tables are rather close together. But overall it’s very good.
Great food. Excellent variety of dishes to suit all tastes
Great food, quick service, friendly staff and good value! This is my favourite Japanese restaurant in Edinburgh and I would not go any where else.
There was great service as always and the food was brilliant. Didn’t fall back on anything and we will definitely be going again. Food isn’t overpriced - you pay for quality
Lovely little quiet restaurant, a stones throw from the busy main road. Had a groupon voucher which was dealt with in a professional manner. Friendly, fast service and lovely food! Would definitely recommend and come back again.
Very helpful staff member, lovely delicious food served quickly and hot. Also very good value for money. Good choice of dishes and we were guided by the waiter as we had not eaten Japanese before.
Good varied menu. Menu represents excellent value for money. All food result prepared to order. Food well presented. Good quick service and friendly restaurant staff
Delicious food, clean and very friendly staff! I would recommend if you’re looking for a Japanese restaurant that won’t cost you too much! Really good value
Great food as always. Fresh and healthy option to spend nice time with friends
Great atmosphere and even greater food. The food is so good that even the most awkward for trying new things would enjoy it very much.
Interesting, tasty food, and good cheerful service in a lively environment. It was very good value for money. All in all a good experience and we'll definitely be back.
Lovely food and good value. They coped very well with our table arriving and ordering at different times as we were meeting between various events at the Fringe
Really good! Lovely food for a great price. Great atmosphere and severed were very pleasant. Loads of specials to choose from as well as a wide selection of mains
The quality of the food was excellent. Evrything made was very tasty. The service was a little slow. The entry door would noisy bang shut. It needs to be repaired so as not to do that.
Great value food. Lots to choose from on the menu as well as specials on the blackboard. Good quality food and helpful friendly waiting staff.
We come here alot, excellent as always. love the new place! much bigger than the last next door. try the gyozas, amazing! bento boxes are fab too, reccomend to anyone!
I absolutely love this restaurant! The food is great, it's got nerdy decor, and it's reasonably priced. I love it and would recommend it to anyone!
The food was lovely. However the menu clearly states items that are gluten free with a ‘gf’ symbol. When the food arrived I was told I should have requested a gluten free version as the sauce wasn’t gluten free. This should be clear on the menu, if you need to request gluten free then say that on the menu. It runs the risk of people getting ill the way it is now.
The restaurant is colourfully decorated with Japanese art and we were seated promptly at a cosy table. We offered several rolls of sushi, pork gyoza, crispy noriten seaweed, umiboshi and sake. Everything was delicious, particularly the seaweed and the rainbow roll. We really enjoyed the sake too. We finished our meal with a refreshing glass of iced plum wine. Service was fast and friendly and the bill for two reasonable. Have always loved this place and this was my partner's first experience of it. We'll be back soon!
Cosy liittle place. Just perfect for a freezing cold February evening.. Superb selection of vegetarian dishes and great service. They don't skimp on the portions. All in all a fab dining experience. Looking forward to another visit.
Fantastic food and service, the deep fried seaweed was amazing, as was the chicken teriyaki, will definately be coming here again the next time I visit Edinburgh 😄
Great! Excellent price and friendly staff. We got a table immediately. Would definitely like to go back and try out other dishes from the menu.
Great food. Good value. Good service and lots of choices on the menu.
The food was excellent food and the restaurant offered a wide range to suite most tastes. Excellent service, nice atmosphere and excellent value for money. I would highly recommend. :-)
Food is good and fresh, but the portions could be bigger for the money you pay. Decor is a bit dated. Could do with a lick of paint. Overall it's ok, but lacks the wow experience. It's just ok
The food was rather good, the place is very small and hot. So it is not very kosy to sit in there. But nice to be there
Food was fantastic! We all would definitely be back, some of party had never had Japanese food before and have said they certainly would in future.
Very cute wee bistro, lovely staff and quick service. Food was excellent, good quality and didn't break the bank. Will definitely be back again soon!
Great place for sushi in Edinburgh made by Japanese chef's. Was there many times and always food was excellent and fresh. Specially bento box is superb option with great price too.
This is one of my favourite places to eat. Food s great, service is friendly and the value for money is outstanding. Would recommend to anyone wanting a nice little place to eat when visiting Edinburgh
They allowed us to use a groupon for two people for all three, which was nice. However the food wasn't as good as it normally is and the portions seemed very small.
Me and my friend went there the other night. lovely Japanese food ( mixed tempura and specify tuna maki are fab!) and good service would recommend to go there.
Fantastic food & easy atmos. Really good value for money! Staff attentive but relaxed. Small but cosy. Definitely worth visiting for authentic taste of Japan.
The food was absolutely amazing, it has a cosy atmosphere, the service was excellent, everyone was so friendly, and on hand to help with fussy eaters, we took the kids here, the guys were great with the kids and made them feel welcome, can't wait for my next visit.
It's not a flashy restaurant, but what it does it does really well. We always love going to Bonsai and because of the reasonable prices we can go quite often.
I love that place but it would benefit from an extra waiter/waitress in the evening. The girl was lovely and very helpful but couldn't manage a full house on her own.
My dining partner enjoyed it very much. I found it interesting and the food good but unexceptional. Service was good. I was put off by seeing a large bluebottle (fly) buzzing around our table which is unsettling in any restaurant but especially where uncooked food is served. It buzzed right into my partner's ear and caused him to drop his chopsticks in surprise.
Great food, freshly made. Excellent service. Fantastic price especially with the 20%discount card. We go here quite often and have ever had a bad meal.
Super good food, speedy service, lovely interior, and good prices! We had a terrific time and would love to go back. It's also easy to find!
