More about the restaurant: Bourbon & Black Central

From their new location in trendy Didsbury, the talented folks behind Bourbon & Black have been quietly delighting the Manchester public with their steak and (cocktail) shaker combo. Now they’re moving up in the world, and into the city centre, with a prime address on Mount Street, just yards from the Town Hall. If they can repeat the trick in the city centre, Manchester will have itself a new culinary favourite.

Thinking about making a Bourbon & Black Central booking?

The name of this Manchester steakhouse – now transplanted to Mount Street the city centre after setting up shop in Didsbury – refers to their two principal selling points: the wide selection of Kentucky’s finest, the brownest of the brown liquors, behind the bar and the black-char that accompanies the graduates of Bovine University that come off their open fire grill. Bourbon & Black don’t pretend to do everything, but what they do, they do well, and that sounds perfect to us.

The star of the show here, of course, is the steak. Cooked on a coal fire and rolled in a secret dry rub, they come accompanied with chips and a choice of sauce. Meat is certainly the order of the day down on Mount Street, and their burgers, pulled pork and ribs are sure to satisfy even Manchester’s most demanding carnivores. With an industrial decor that is often seen in the newer restaurants of the city centre, we’re sure that Bourbon & Black is going to fit right in with the town crowd, so make sure you book a table in advance to snap up a seat!
