Great food great menus and kids menu covered all tastes

Visited here for a post-Christmas walk & lunch meet-up with my sister & family. We did a similar thing last year & really enjoyed it. The bar is a comfortable warm, friendly area & the staff are excellent - friendly & responsive. The food was pretty good but with some disappointments. The Steak, Ale & mushroom pie was a separate pastry shell, filled with pie filling and topped with an (also separate) puff pastry top - why? My gnocchi was quite tasty but a bit small & could really have done with at least a piece of bread with it. The veggie burger, fish & chips & roast lamb were apparently great. We had a great time with the family, but some went away a bit disappointed with the food.

I have to say I hadn’t been here for a few years but the meal was one of the nicest I have had in a long time. Good chef.
