A unique Indian restaurant in a city filled with Indian restaurants, Canal Square Punjabi Cuisine & Mixology Bar introduces Birmingham to the concept of tasting menus paired with northern Indian and Punjabi food, plus outstanding cocktails to sweeten the deal. Located canalside along Browning Street, at the Glasshouse apartments on Canal Square on the border of the Brindleyplace development and close to a number of new city landmarks and hotspots, Canal Square Punjabi Cuisine & Mixology Bar is set to take the modern Birmingham dining scene by storm. Table reservations are strongly recommended.
“The journey is one of traditional Punjabi cuisine with a modern British twist,” says head chef Pharm Dhillon, and it’s a very safe bet that a combination of curry-obsessed Birmingham and the restaurant’s exciting location at Canal Square amidst the modern developments around Brindleyplace is going to mean that this mission statement is taken up in a big way. Canal Square Punjabi Cuisine & Mixology Bar indeed promises something different to the hundreds of Birmingham Indian restaurants – as fantastic as many are – by presenting a selection of dishes that focuses on regional northern Indian or Punjabi cuisine presented in a degustation or tasting menu style.
Adarki lamb chops, chilli chicken tikka, Hariyali and Achari tikka, samosa chaat – dishes with names like these might be familiar to Birmingham’s Indian and subcontinental cuisine aficionados. However, it’s the panache with which Canal Square Punjabi Cuisine & Mixology Bar present these dishes that carries the restaurant over into a new era of dining in the city that calls itself the barony of the balti if not the kingdom of curry. To make matters better, Canal Square Punjabi Cuisine & Mixology Bar also houses some top-notch cocktail action, making this Browning Street, Canal Square spot a great place to begin a night out in and around the inner-city action of Brindleyplace.
This was our first time at Canal Square Punjabi Cuisine & Mixology Bar and won't be the last. The food was excellent with plenty of choice and the service first class. The restaurant it's self is setup for fine dining and it didn't disappoint, I look forward to going again soon.
Great place in Birmingham by the canals with beautiful decor and friendly staff. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The aloo tiki was the best!
Excellent food and service and the restaurant itself is very well designed furnished. I wished they had cobra on draft though. We be returning very soon! Recommend to everyone
Good food really tasty beautiful resturant ambiance is perfect well worth a visit .Amazing host and staff .My food was delicious chilli pork for starters and prawn shaih for mains mmmmmmm
What a wonderful hidden secret, out of the way but well worth a visit. Food and service is excellent. Don't expect a fast service, these people cook from fresh and that is what makes it so tasty. Relax and drink while you wait for a mouth watering treat.
Excellent service and food. It is a shame that this restaurant is hidden behind Broad Street as it is a gem of a restaurant. If you want quality 'Desi' Punjabi cuisine, then give this place a try.
The food was absolutely fantastic, nice cocktails and they do a brilliant floral tea, restaurant is nicely decorated and the service was good, possibly one of the top Indian restaurants I've been to. overall top marks 👍.
Great food, and lovely service. Will definitely go back again. There is a huge range of dishes to choose from and the owner came out to explain a little bit about what we were having.
Amazing food. Lovely restaurant, tucked away but an easy walk from Brindley Place and well worth the trip! Punjabi cuisine cooked immaculately and generous portions. Good value for such high end quality
