My husband rated the Sunday roast highly but I was not as keen. The dessert was particularly disappointing. Toilets were not very clean either. Cleanliness really should be a priority when serving food. Staff were however very polite and helpful.

Lovely friendly welcome when we arrived. Quick efficient service at the bar. Our order was taken from a table we were sat at in the bar and then shown to our table when our starters were ready. Food was well presented and of excellent quality. Service staff were very good and helpful with any requests we had. We will most certainly return.

Have been back here time and time again because the food is excellent. Service is spot on. It was unfortunate that grandparents had 3 extremely noisy boys in the restaurant which spoiled our Sunday lunch.

Food took a long time to arrive, burger was nice but not exceptional and friends steak was more grissel than meat. Wine was a bit sharp and beer not 100%. Also felt like we were being pushed out at 10pm and a larger choice of coffee would've been good.

Small, friendly restaurant. Helpful staff and good food. Nothing too much trouble and just attentive enough without being overbearing. Very reasonably priced too! We will definitely visit again.

Went to the Chequers for a business Christmas lunch, 3 of us had the Christmas menu (duck, gorgeous) the other ten had either the burger or the sausage and mash. All of us commented on how beautiful the food was, the staff were excellent and we will be back!

Excellent choice of food and also Italian menu.Could not manage a starter as the main meals were large. Had to wait a little while for the meals as there was a large number of people in the restaurant and only 2 serving.Good choice of meals that could be adapted to make them gluten free. The men said the beer was on form and the ladies could recommend the large choice of gins. Tom was delightful as always.

Warm welcome, excellent service and great food and wine. Lamb's liver cooked beautifully and friends fish and chips equally delicious. Forgot to mention the squid rings as a starter were nice and crunchy, just as they should be.

Our group of four travelled to The Chequers Inn on Bank Holiday Monday for an early evening meal. They apparently had a very busy lunch time session and two of our original choices were not available from the menu, fish and chips and "not so famous" steak and ale pie. Must have been good to run out by 5.30. Nevertheless, all of our new choices were excellent and more than met our needs. Good team of staff were on hand at the bar and in the restaurant
