Cibo Restaurant and Cafe

We were sat by the hot smokey smelly kitchen and watched food being returned for one reason or another. We had pizzas and they hardly had any cheese on them, one was suppose to be the burnt mouth pizza but when we asked where the chillies were the waitress told us the kitchen must have forgotten them, the pizza was anything but spicey or hot. This is a poor example of an italian restaurant, no wonder they had reservations available at the last minute!

Food and service good, though not cheap. Did not like the huge mirrors beside the tables along the side of the restaurant and would avoid these tables in future!

Excellent food, excellent service and not too snobby. Still quite expensive, but it is worth the price. Would definitely recomment it. Normal size meals. 2 Person Antipasti Plate was great and Cannelloni reaally good

Brilliant restaurant our first visit to oxford and we found this gem. First class service and food, portion sizes are generous and the dishes are perfectly cooked

Service was excellent both in terms of speed and attentiveness of staff. Food was also excellent. Will use Cibo as my go-to restaurant from now on.

Lovely food and good service under pressure as it was a very busy Saturday night. Because it's an open kitchen set up it got very hot but everything else more than made up for it.

Excellent and very quick. Delicious pizza and my wife had risotto. We shared a mixed starter of calamari, salmon, courgettes, spring onions, broccoli and prawns - superb!

Food was excellent. Staff attentive, friendly & service was quick - it was quiet when we were there. Overall, lovely meal, good atmosphere & we would go again.

Great food, but restaurant was all smokey when I arrived and at some point they 'noticed' that and opened the main door. I wouldn't mind if was just few bursts of 5 min of door open every hour or so, but it was a freezing night and they left it open for longer than 30 min. No staff seemed to follow up or even ask tables round the door (mine included) if that was 'ok' to leave it open for a few minutes. Staff was attentive enough during serving though.

The pizza was good but not of Italian standards, my companion was Italian. The teramisu dessert was very good indeed and seemed to be home made,

Hubby & I have eaten here on several occasions. Some have resulted in excellent service & food others not quite so! On this occasion service was slow with the people on the next table being served before us even though they were seated after & food was ok but not brilliant.

Excellent meal and waiter service as usual. Considering it was the penultimate day of closing this excellent restaurant was due to close the next day.

Unfortunately Cibo is to close on 21st February and will be greatly missed. Fingers crossed that they can find new premises before too long. Service and meals have been excellent.

Food o.k felt a bit rushed, ambience not as good as in the past they are closing down in about a week so that's probably why.

Great restaurant but shutting down 21 Feb 2016 so get along there quickly. Would definitely recommend the Parma ham, rocket and tomato pizza and the fish dishes. Puddings great

Lovely restaurant, however the service was quite slow when it wasn't very busy. The desserts, especially the Tiramisu was very tasty. Nice and warm, considering it was very cold outside.

A very nice restaurant serving good food and with very helpful and friendly staff. We arrived 30 minutes early but they were very accommodating. Slight confusion with our order very quickly resolved

Friendly service and freshly cooked, well presented, tasty food, this place never fails to please! The calamari is to die for, best in the area.

We had a very good pasta dish. My stuffed chicken breast was delicious and not overcooked; my wife's steak was rare as expected and beautifully grilled. Puddings were good, too. The white section of the wine list needs a little work: our glasses of Corvo were fine but nothing special. However, we had a lovely Brunello, and there is an impressive grappa list. Service was excellent. Background music should be quieter, but otherwise highly recommended.

Excellent food, very lively for a Wednesday night so im glad we booked! Service could have been a bit faster but as i said it was quite busy so that can be excused, would happily go again

Excellent, evening. Very attentive waiters, very good live music which was just right, great food especially the fish. Pizza base was perhaps a bit too thick. And it was difficult to cut but good topping.

We visited Cibo Saturday evening and received a very friendly welcome. We were given a choice of places to sit, even though the restaurant was fairly busy. The menu was very varied and offered a lot of choice at a reasonable price. The service and food was excellent, freshly cooked and everything was really tasty! Will definitely go back again.

Lovely service, special company. Staff totally unfazed when I smashed a wine glass, empty fortunately.

Good quality food with the exception of the fries which were tasteless and unpleasant. Excellent service throughout the meal. Good atmosphere and will go again.

Reservation process went without hitch. Good welcome from Restaurant. Excellent meal with good fast, professional but friendly service. Cooking is done open plan and can be viewed from the seating area. Good staffing ration and excellent value wines.

A very enjoyable meal but your e-mail stating that my booking had not been accepted caused me much concern until I telephoned Cibo who confirmed that the booking was fine.

Always a friendly place to go, with good service and food to match. We have used this restaurant on many occasions and have never been disappointed.

Prompt and generally good service. Food was very good - well prepared and presented too. Value for money overall was also pretty reasonable - dinner for 4, 2 courses each plus an extra dish and a mix of wine and soft drinks by the glass all came to around £126. Menu has a good variety of choices and the ambience was busy but pleasant. The seating (chairs) could be more comfortable and if I'm to spend over one hundred pounds I expect my backside to be treated with repect too.
