Côte Lewes

We had a lovely evening. The starter and dessert were very good but our mains were rather fatty. I had the lamb which also had rather greasy gravey and my husband had the veal. The service was excellent and they asked us what we thought of the meal. We were compensated with a free bottle of wine. So we were happy with that.

Too many menus and complicated voucher usage e.g. 2 of you have to order off this menu. It’s to complicated and makes the ordering a bit stressful. Different menus at different times as well - just want to relax. Also, no vegan options clearly available.

Staff were welcoming , friendly & helpful at all times . Service was prompt, and attentive throughout meal but not over the top. We took advantage of the special offer of a free bottle of rose wine . I chose my favourite tuna niscoise and the tuna was cooked perfectly. Great mid week evening .

Lovely atmosphere as usual. The service was a bit relaxed but it didn’t matter on this occasion as I was meeting a friend for lunch so we were chatting.

Unfortunately, good food and great service was spoiled towards the end of our supper by a very strong smell of cleaning chemicals being sprayed in the bar area adjacent to our table. We would not want to sit anywhere near there again but would recommend that such powerful cleaning agents are not used until clients have left the restaurant - that is if you continue to spray which we hope you will re-consider. The chemicals must be bad - or at least unpleasant - for the staff using them to inhale.

One of our party has severe allergies to dairy and tomatoes. They did provide acmeal but was plain grilled chicken, salad and chips. Disappointing particularly as I emailed them well in advance to give them time to prepare something. They never replied to the email

Always a great experience and delicious food. The bonus of a free bottle of wine for entering the Facebook Competition was well received.

One of the best meals i have had out in a very long time -I could not find fault with any part of the service or meal.

Sadly one of the dishes was way below normal standard ..but the manager took this ... and our main course off the bill Our waiter was excellent

Waiter was good. Food is good but can be viewed as pricey. However our wine voucher was a welcome bonus which made the overall price more reasonable.

Plus - Good friendly service. Overall quality good. Minus - lack of many vegan options - in fact there are no vegan options per se in main courses. Would like to see this remedied. One of us had to have side dishes only as a result. Portion sizes of some of the main dishes at our table were very small for eg the haddock goujons - really not very much fish at all but not a cheap item. Have had similar problem with other meals at Cote.

One of our party was gluten and dairy intolerant. Service was really good for her and a real effort to accommodate her needs was much appreciated.

3 perfectly delicious meals with superb service and attentive staff. 3 meals because there is nowhere else in the area that can be guarenteed to be consistently good as Côte is. No standout dish because every dish is. Côte remains in my opinion the best food chain in the country. Customers should not be disappointed.

Excellent meal, very good service, amazing range of food on offer, well cooked. Description of food not always comprehensive e.g. no mention of golden raisins in the cabbage which changed the inherent sweetness of the dish - but problem dealt with very well by waiter and manager.

Brilliant Negronis! My husband enjoyed his lamb and the puddings were absolutely delicious. Service really great and despite being really full on a Wednesday night the service was speedy. I missed off the extra star because the toilets are so far away from the restaurant.

Another good Cote well up to standard that we have come to expect

Great food and company - will return again in the future

Three of us came for supper on Sunday at 8pm - we had found it easy to change the booking from four at 6.45pm (thank you for that!). The food was the best I think my husband and I have ever had at Cote - duck - and my son said the same about the crispy belly pork. The creme brulee is our favourite pudding. The waiter was solicitous without intruding and we always had water etc - the staff at Lewes are invariably good. So, Cote remains the best place to eat in our town and, so long as it remains consistent, we shall keep coming. People feel it is more 'special' than anywhere else - especially since Le Magasin closed in Cliffe High Street. Thanks to all for a lovely evening.

Fabulous meal , excellent wine and 5 Star Service - always made so welcome- a pleasure to dine here .

The only reason I am not giving 5 stars for food and service is because my husband's meal ( we were a party of 8) was forgotten then when it came it had been rushed and was inedible - it had to be sent back. The Waiter was very apologetic and I believe they did adjust the bill.

We had a very nice meal which we were able to share with two friends who hadn't seen each other for 50+ years. One was visiting from New Zealand. Nice atmosphere and nice wine.

Outstanding evening. Food was utterly delicious. Staff so attentive, happy and within seconds of my husband dropping his knife another had appeared without even being asked for. The whole experience was such a treat for my husband and I who rarely get an evening out without the children and we will be back! Thank you

The Asparagus Risotto was excellent and very good service too in a nice setting.
