Côte Reading

Lovely team, great food and wine. Nice vibe in the restaurant. Steak Tartare delicious and both steaks cooked to perfection. Cote de Rhône perfectly accompanied the steaks.

Really nice experience. Food was good and varied menu choice. Staff very friendly and helpful. There was a blip as one of the March specials is iamb rump and there is also a lamb rump dish on the standard a la carte menu. The order was taken down and input correctly however the kitchen mistakenly served up the wrong dish. It 'twas handled very professionally by the front of house team. Meal,replaced quickly and deducted from our bill.

The asparagus with Hollandaise sauce was very good, but the steak rapide was not. I asked for it to be rare but it arrived cooked all the way through. I sent it back, but the steak that returned tasted of rancid oil. I sent that one back as well and when the final one arrived it had no taste at all! I have never had a problem before at Cote Brasserie and this was very disappointing. The staff were wonderful though, really concerned and thoughtful. I wasn't charged for the steak. It was Sunday evening and the restaurant was quiet.

Food is great. I really enjoyed my steak. However the seats weren’t comfortable, restaurant was far too noisy and our waitress didn’t smile even once. The table next to us were having a debate between themselves to pay her tip or not. Overall food is great but atmosphere isn’t.

Great service and great food. Staff are very welcoming, highly professional and extremely helpful and accommodating. Wonderful gluten free menu choices which are careful adaptations of the main menu. Coeliacs can feel confident eating here.

Warm, friendly staff and atmosphere. Always speedy service and delicious food. One of my favourite restaurants in reading.

Each and every cote restaurant I have visited the staff and food have been excellent it is and always will be a favourite of mine! From London to Exeter

A solid performance by the Cote Team. Attentive service and more than satisfactory food quality. The overall experience is good, not exceptional....as befitting a middle market restaurant.

Staff very attentive from the time we arrived too when we left, starter of calamari was great and the main was fantastic and great quality. Kia Royal on arrival and lovely rose wine, will be back.

I am a very regular customer and invariably enjoy the time spent at Cote Reading, where the service is excellent and the meal good value, although I would appreciate a more frequent change of the 2 course £11.50 menu.

As usual, a very pleasant lunch at Côte. My wife and I had our usual choices, both very enjoyable. And we enjoyed the freebie G&T too. Will be back soon, no doubt.

Helpful attentive staff...clean surroundings....,good atmosphere.....most of all good food especially the mussels! All served pretty quickly.Overall everything is pretty good. Now for the negatives.....Twice I have had vouchers for drinks Via SAGA which were supposed to be downloaded when I booked on line from their site and show on my booking. Both times it had not registered on the booking....I had to find all the details on my phone which was really embarrasing and made me feel uncomfortable.... I was cross about that but it wasnt the waiters fault ...please get that sorted. I do think the bread is very expensive for what you get....a big extra if you want some with mussels... and the water on the table is always warm ....every time I have to ask for ice which is usually brought straight away .... these are the reasons I only gave 5 stars There are two or three good really restaurants in the Oracle and despite my negatives this is one of them.

Food was nicely presented and lovely however service was not fully attentive. We had to replenish our wine glasses and wave to get attention. The atmosphere was good.

I am very disappointed about our visit today. Our server seemed unable to understand my requests and at time as though she could not be bothered to wait our table. We had the free aperitif when we tried it we found it extremely strong and asked her if there was anyway she could add some lemonade or anything to take the strength away she just answered oh you didn’t like it oh ok and took away the glasses ! Our food was delivered and then she vanished we felt as though we were being completely ignored as though our presence was an inconvenience to her. When we asked to pay the bill we had to track a member of staff down and then we waited and waited but no one came I even stood and put my coat on still no one came in the end we literally had to wave at someone to pay our bill. Very disappointed ruined our Father’s Day meal. Poor customer service not somewhere I would recommend.

Good tasty meal even though the restaurant was very busy our food was served promptly and politely and was cooked well. Many thanks for a very pleasant experience

Good atmosphere, quality food at reasonable prices. Good service. Only minor criticism could do with slightly larger table, bit if a squeeze for four people.

Still my favourite restaurant and still the best steak and service in town.

As regulars at Cote over the years, it is good to see they are continuing to succeed. It was packed to the roof with a fantastic atmosphere, yet the service was as sharp and enthusiastic as ever. Book or you won’t get a weekend table. We ate dishes we know well and the quality of ingredients, cooking and presentation made them as fresh and enjoyable as ever; in fact probably better than ever, and that’s why we keep going back! Well done to the whole Cote team.

We have always felt that Cote is a nice pace to eat, it’s kids friendly and it’s alwags busy and the staff have always been hands on. Every time we have been they always remember us and have always asked how we are and the meal as always been delightful. It’s good value for money and the place has a great atmosphere. We don’t come all the time but when we do we make it special and enjoy every minute we are there.

The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The menu has a very good range of dishes. One of our group is a vegetarian and was very impressed with the vegetarian menu as it gave a lot of choice compared to other restaurants. The service was excellent and the food very well cooked and presented. We enjoyed a nice relaxing meal.

We both had the green risotto which was delicious. We saw it described on the a la carte menu as a light bite and the quantity was perfect - first time for ages I’ve managed to finish a risotto. We wondered if the same dish on the short menu was the same quantity,? In the end we paid for the short menu risotto with a dessert. Disappointed that you only had Lemon sorbet (no mango or blackcurrant) and no nice ‘mocktail’ type drinks. The cloudy lemonade was nice though.

Great food, excellent service as always. This is our local Cote and we are frequent diners here.

A lovely meal as always. Our restaurant of choice never fails to impress. We enjoyed the complimentary cocktails and both the lamb and the belly pork main meals were cooked perfectly.

We love the Reading branch of Côte, the food is always excellent especially the fillet steak and their breakfasts. Staff are really polite and welcoming, the food is excellent value for money considering the quality, we have been to many more expensive places where the food is nowhere near as good. Great restaurant!

Convenient in Reading, food good, April offer drink fine. Background music a bit loud. If you must have i8jt, have a French theme. Nice taste of France in UK.

Food was nice except it came a different times so we didn’t eat together, manager did make a lovely guesture by making desert to wish us good luck in our forthcoming marriage.

Really good service, booked a table but wasnt to busy at 7pm Lovely cooked food. Recommend The duck. Came out quick but that is ok i guess. All clean and presentable.

Great food, service and atmosphere. Really enjoyed the rhubarb cocktails. Although we were accidentally served the incorrect main dish it was immediately rectified and we were given complimentary coffees after our desserts.

The service was good. I ordered a full breakfast with poached eggs, one egg was cooked the other wasn’t!! It was cold on the inside as if it had come out of the fridge.

My partner and I love going to cote since our first date. We recently went for a birthday and the specials for the month were amazing (particularly the swordfish and white chocolate creme brulee). Definitely recommend for those who want a pleasant meal out with someone special

Once again another excellent time had by me and my daughter at Cote celebrating her birthday. Food, staff and atmosphere were brilliant. The whole restaurant was bubbling with happy customers.

We went for Mother's Day lunch and it was very busy but this didn't affect the food quality or cooking - everything was superb. Calamari tender & crisp, as was the duck & the fillet steak perfectly pink. A kir royale (part of the deal) & wonderful service topped off a lovely family occasion in our favourite Cote restaurant - a perfect way to spend Mother's Day!

The food is excellent and the service is quick and the waiting staff are friendly. The noise levels in the restaurant need to be reduced, some soft partitioning using plants or other techniques could make such a difference.

Our breakfast order was misplaced in the kitchen so we had a long wait. However, the staff dealt with it extremely well. Not only did we have a buck fizz while waiting neither were we charged for the meal which we really didn't expect. The staff in the Reading Cote are always very good unlike others particularly Clifton, Bristol.

Excellent as always. I will say the French beans a little over done. The specials desert was tasteless. Apart from that spot on :)
