This restaurant is like a piece of Italy in the centre of London. it has a buzzy atmosphere as lots of people also know what a good place it is. The staff could not be more helpful and courteous and the food and wine was terrific. The portions are large so beware when ordering. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant and I intend to go back there again.

Tables are small and far too close to each other. I order a fish dish; the fish was overcooked, the vegetables were cold and hardly cooked.

We had a nice small table by the door and did not get cold even though there were many people coming in and out. The food was amazing and the portions were very large. The staff was also very nice.

Great atmosphere, but our meal of mixed fish with vegetables for 2 was far too salty and the fish was quite undistinguished. Perhaps we would have done better with the more traditional Italian dishes.

One of my favourite restaurants in London. Great service, wonderful food. You can't beat the quality of their pasta as well as their friendly attentive staff.

Not a good restaurant - the staff were really lovely and trying their best, but the food was stuck in the tasteless 80s. There are so many good Italian restaurants in London now, the old trattoria vibe needs to keep up. Pasta was tasteless, lamb shank was greasy and cold, and the swordfish was chewy. All the menu was totally over priced, and taking advantage of the tourist market. Such a shame!

Lovely, homely restaurant in the centre of town - staff attentive and food excellent. Definitely recommended. We will be returning for lunch again sometime soon.

Great food and service. We asked for a wine recommendation which was well matched to the food - good choice. This is a small restaurant so it is a tight for space between the tables - we would go again.

Friendly staff, attentive to customer's wishes, excellent food and drink. We certainly did not leave hungry. I would highly recommend da Paulo to anyone who finds they need their spirits uplifted(and no pun intended).

This is a gem of a restaurant hidden away in the backwaters of Fitzrovia, or if you are less trendy like myself just adjacent to Charlotte Street. It is like a bistro that could be anywhere in Italy, great traditional food, well priced and enormous portions, and there is Carlos the owner keeping a beady eye on the happenings. There is even a good Youngs pub just across the road, The One Tun. Most enjoyable.

We had a lovely experience at da Paolo, food was delicious, the restaurant atmosphere was great and staff were super friendly. Only constructive criticism is you don't want your customers ask for the menu after been sat for a awhile or be wondering where your starters are after a long while.. apart from that is a place we would love to go back.

This is the first time Da Paolo has disappointed. We usually eat here whenever we visit London - at least 2 or 3 times a year and have always had great food here but this time it was a let down. My monk fish dish had excellent additions of mussels & clams & a lovely sauce, but much of the star of the dish - the monkfish - was chewy and inedible. I told the waitress I was disapointed with the dish but I don't think she was programmed to accept any negative comments. The manager makes a great thing about welcoming you when you arrive, perhaps he also should make a point of talking to you when you leave. It means we will probably go elsewhere next time.

Amazing food, warm service, sat in a beautiful authentic surrounding. We all had the Lasagne and it was delicious, starters portions are big as well.

The food did not match our expectations after reading TripAdvisor. We ordered the veal and the lamb steak, but the meat was nothing special and the potatoes/vegetables "boring" and not tasty

A true Italian restaurant, with helpful and friendly staff, a broad menu choice and an excellent atmosphere. A cut above the high street chains . . . We will certainly be returning.

Friendly efficient service.Food and wine, perfectly adequate, but sound rather than exciting. At £40 per head for two courses and a bottle of house red (one of the main courses being a straight pasta dish) ,prices bordering on the high end of mid price. The restaurant space is small, the decor cosy in a traditional Italian style, the seating is very cramped however and once the restaurant became crowded a degree of manoeuvering was required whenever customers needed to leave their table space,by those seated at adjoining tables. There is the potential to dine al fresco during the warmer months and this may ease the pressure on indoor space.Overall Da Paolo offers a pleasant dining experience.

An excellent experience. A wide range of dishes, well cooked and very nicely presented. Your house wine (white) was most pleasant. Efficient service. All round satisfied, and will be back! Best

I found the food mediocre, two of my party had to tell the management about the poor quality of their lobster. Management did refund the cost of the meals. Quantity over quality.

Very unassuming place - dont be fooled, the food here is unbelievably good! 'Proper' Italian food! Had spag bol with chicken escalope - fabulous...Combine that with a lovely bottle of Chianti Classic and lunch was wrapped up in a big red bow!! Will be heading back!!

We had a delightful time at Da Paolo - the staff, the ambience, the wine, the food were all delightful. The restaurant said they would make any pasta dish to our specifications, and they made a spaghetti aglio olio peperoncino which was perfect; my saltimbocca romana was similarly excellent. We'll be making Da Paolo a regular stop in London

Excellent food and service. Shame about space...a bit tight ! Portions to certainly satisfy your hunger. You won't come out still feeling peckish . What ALL restaurants should do instead of charging you the earth and still leave you hungry !

The fact that this restaurant has been in business for many years and is usually full tells you that it does most things right. If you are looking for a well executed 'traditional' Italian meal, Da Paolo will not disappoint. A lovely and good value Primitivo added considerably to our enjoyment of the meal.
