Dakshin translates to south, hence you’ll find predominantly Southern Indian cuisine at this Indian restaurant in Earley. The head chef here, Subin Joseph, was born in Southern India and has vast experience in the restaurant business. As such, he and his team fuse the cooking traditions he loves from Southern India with modern cooking techniques developed over time, and the result is a Dakshin menu that’s one of the best in this part of suburban Reading. You’ll find this Indian restaurant on London Road where it’s absolutely essential you head with a reservation in hand.
I cook Indian food regularly & am frequently disappointed with a majority of Indian restaurants. However Dakshin blew me away! The presentation & stacks of flavour in every bite was a delight. I could not eat it all on the night so had the remainder the following day - equally delicious. Value for money is great as is the atmosphere & kindness of staff. Only minor issue was we did have to wait for quite a while BUT worth that wait. Thank you to Dakshin chefs. I will be returning very soon :-)
The food here is from the Kerala region of India so quite different to most Indian restaurant food. The food was delicious, beautifully presented. Service good and friendly. Would definitely recommend.
Fantastic service and very reasonable price.quiet maybe too quiet to be sustainable so please visit. Attentive staff not your usual sometimes rowdy Indian restaurant. Brilliant.
