Just a 3 minute walk from St Paul’s, Davy’s The Foster Project has a much more modern look and feel than what we’ve all come to expect from Davy’s traditional London pubs and wine bars. Down Foster Lane in London’s Cheapside – a district whose character is not to be confused by its name – this wine bar and restaurant has grit, yet is slick enough to remind diners and drinkers alike that they are imbibing in a superlative venue. Davy’s same high standards of service apply to Davy’s The Foster Project, and the food and drinks are uniformly excellent.

Davy’s The Foster Project emphasises the casual over the fine when it comes to dining. You can still find classics of British and European cuisines here, but you’re likely to find that same quality slapped between two halves of a burger bun – premium burger patties married to stilton cheese (with vine tomatoes, sliced gherkins, red onion and gem lettuce), for example, rather than the prime steak with a stilton cheese sauce you might expect from another Davy’s. You’re also treated to a far more fusion and international range of dishes at Davy’s The Foster Project’s Foster Lane premises. Brazilian and Tex-Mex burgers are writ large on the menu, as are the offerings from The Pizza Project. You can get a New York Reuben sandwich, or opt for the beef Carpaccio. It’s in Cheapside, but that doesn’t mean trash – Davy’s The Foster Project has aimed instead to deftly occupy the intersection between the elegance of its sibling restaurants and the on-the-go street food that London loves.

And, as with all Davy’s London wine bars, Davy’s The Foster Project emphasises its wine above all other beverages. White, rosé, red, sparkling, authentic Champagne, and rosé Champagne are all available – with such huge variety it’s recommended you seek a recommendation from the friendly wait or bar staff. However, Davy’s The Foster Project also offers more alternatives to fine wine than other Davy’s outposts. This so-called wine bar down Foster Lane has an enviable selection of lager, cider, stout and ale on tap, plus the same again by the bottle. Cocktails can be consumed, too, and the Death In The Afternoon is recommended for all hours. Vintage ports are also decanted daily, so ask about the cask du jour next time you’re looking for the finer things in life down London’s Cheapside.
