The Glasgow public are known for their love of curry, and if you venture out to Coatbridge, then there is one restaurant that stands above all others in the Indian restaurant scene. Eastern Palace on Bank Street first opened its door some 30 and change years ago, and they have become firm favourites ever since, with locals coming back time and again to experience their warm welcome, their pleasant ambience and, of course, their diverse Indian menu.
Eastern Palace is easy enough to get: take the train to Coatbridge Central from Glasgow, walk out of the station and turn onto Bank Street and you’re pretty much there. Sit down, order a pint of Cobra or Kingfisher, split a few starters – pakoras and samosas are always a popular choice – and then order up one of their specials, such as chicken tikka chasni, Karahi Gosht or Masaledar, a tangy green pepper curry with Punjabi spices. Just remember to reserve ahead of time though: the restaurant does get busy!
