El Muro London is a cosy and wonderfully stylish little Mexican restaurant in Muswell Hill. In fact, it’s one of our favourites in the area thanks to a menu and an atmosphere that complement each other perfectly. Open for brunch, lunch and dinner, El Muro serves Mexican food that feels refined. As in, you’ll be left feeling satisfied and full but not comatosed because off too many carbs and too much cheese. Instead, you can expect everything from tacos filled with grilled and marinated prawns, white cabbage and salsa verde through to mains like grilled sea bream or some mighty vibrant ceviche, all made with highest quality ingredients that you’ll find at any Mexican restaurant in London. El Muro London is right on Muswell Hill Broadway and not far at all from Alexandra Palace, making it a great spot for dinner before an event there or just for a casual night of properly good Mexican food and drink. These days, it’s no longer enough for a Mexican restaurant in London to serve up an under-filled burrito or some skimpy fajitas and have anyone want to return. As such, the team behind the wheel at El Muro in Muswell Hill have created a brunch menu and a main menu that both go above and way beyond this sort of stuff to offer Mexican fare that’s different, modern and absolutely booming with flavour. If you’re in for breakfast or brunch then get involved with huevos rancheros or the Mexican eggs, both of which wash down well with an El Muro virgin cocktail.
The El Muro London main menu is of course where it’s at, however, so if you’re dining for dinner then you can’t go wrong by starting with calamares or the jalapeno and courgette tempura served with a coriander sour cream. Following on, if you feel like tacos, the braised chicken ones with homemade tinga salsa go down a storm, as do the nopal variety that are filled with cactus (yes, as in the spikey plant). For something larger, quesadillas or enchiladas are always a good shout, or for something completely unique to El Muro try the cured yellowfish tuna ceviche on a blue corn tostada.
