Emporio Maria, ideally located along Harborne’s High Street, is the place to head if
you want a taste of authentic Italian cuisine. Whether for lunch or dinner, Emporio
Maria serves up classic Italian ristorante fare in surrounds whose trompe
l’oeil decor gives the impression you’re dining al fresco in Tuscany rather than
the outskirts of Birmingham. Emporio Maria’s menus are brimming with dishes that
reflect a real passion for Italian cuisine – soups, antipasti, and bruschetta lead into
delicious pastas and risottos; insalati keep things fresh while fish and meat mains
jostle for your attention.
And, just as Emporio Maria have imported the best Italian culinary traditions into their kitchen, they also export their authentic expertise by providing catering to weddings, parties, and corporate functions in the Harborne and Birmingham areas. That said, there’s nothing like bringing the party to Emporio Maria’s High Street premises. Bring four or more friends to Emporio Maria to celebrate your birthday and you’ll get a complimentary bottle of wine. Dine early and you can enjoy three courses of exacting Italian cuisine for under £15. And, hot tip, check out Emporio Maria’s website for a voucher that can be redeemed against a glass of wine with every meal.
We came here for my partners birthday with his teenage children and all went home very happy. The waitress was very attentive and the food was outstanding. This is the best Italian food I have tasted in England. We will definitely be coming back here again soon :)
Lovely food, good value and excellent attentive service. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meal. Would recommend if you're after nice food in a casual ambiance.
Fantastic food, fantastic staff, lovely wine 🍷A fantastic place. Will become a regular place of ours to visit to relax as a couple or entertain friends👌 Highly recommended x
Very good food was amazing service was very good too will visit again very soon staff where accomodating so overall very impressed couldnt of asked for more
I don't have enough nice and kind things to say about our dining experience! The restaurant decor is lovely, there is a real feel of authenticity. When we arrived we were greeted with a warm smile and an eagerness to please from the off! Our waitress was kind and attentive without being too overbearing and nothing was too much trouble. Our waitress had an excellent knowledge of the wine list and the selection was excellent. We had the breads with oils as starters, we would have ordered two lots but were informed that they were a good portion size, so again showing customer service is paramount rather than taking our money. For my main I had the sea bass with the other sea food cooked along side it. The portion was incredible! The sea bass was cooked to perfection, succulent and tender. The seafood cooked with the sea bass were king prawns, mussels and squid - none of which were chewy or rubbery, just full of flavour! My girlfriend had the chicken and prawn in a rich chilli tomato creamy sauce which she described as scrumptious and after having a little sample I have to agree, the flavours were fantastic. All in all we had a real memorable night for all the right reasons and most importantly we left the restaurant with two beaming smiles. This is a real hidden little gem on the Harborne highstreet and if you get a chance you should definitely pay Emporio Maria a visit!
It's easy to walk past the Emporio Maria, but I'm so glad we did'nt as the service and food are excellent. The food comes in generous portions and is reasonably priced, although the wine, in my opinion, is a little on the expensive side. All in all a very good restaurant, where the wife and I will definitely return to.
We always have a great eating experience at Emporio Maria! The service is great and the food is hand made cooked exactly how you like it. They cater for anybody with food intolerances. The staff are friendly and polite they are not pushy in any way. A great night out was had by us in this wonderful restaurant.
Our first time here. Nicely decorated, cosy. All staff appeared to be Italian. Very attentive without being intrusive. my Wife and i both started with seafood. Calamari dusted inn semolina, and fruits de mare. Follow by linguine fruits de mare and sea bass with calamari and prawns. All of which was very tasty and well worth the money. We shared a bottle of Merlot at £16.95, which i thought was a little expensive, but very enjoyable. Coffee followed and complimentary Limoncello. The bill was a reasonable £65 We shall return. well worth a visit.
Excellent menu choice, food arrived quickly and was served by friendly staff. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meal, pasta to Sea Bass, cooked to a high standard. Good choice of wine. We all agreed to visit Emporio Maria again.
The restaurant is fairly small so not too full and noisy and the decor creates a cosy atmosphere great for a relaxed meal. The menu choice was good with more than just the typical Italian dishes. We had 3 courses and all were delicious. Portion sizes are rather large so make sure you leave room for the Tiramisu for dessert, highly recommended.
Excellent food and service. Lovely authentic Italian restaurant we really enjoyed ourselves and couldn't fault the food at all! Our main meal took a while to come out which we didn't notice as we were too busy drinking wine and chatting but the waitress brought us over a bowl of olives to nibble on while we waited which was nice.
Lovely food, friendly service. Will definitely return. The restaurant is small but popular and I quite like that it is not big. Having been to Italy quite a few times and eaten in very small family run places off the tourist track, this is the closest you will get to a genuine, non stereotypical Italian restaurant.
Lovely little restaurant. The service was excellent, nice ambiance and good food. This was the second time we have been and both times everyone in our company enjoyed their meals. There is plenty of competition in Harborne and this little place holds their own. We will be returning.
Such a lovely authentic restaurant and so different from the other Italian chains. A great menu to choose from. Staff were friendly. We only had time for a main but the service was quick, a good Portion and it was hot and tasty. Will definitely be going back!
The food is delicious and reasonably priced. The menu is extensive and the portions are large. We booked a table but there was no need, although it was quite early in the evening. The staff are pleasant and the service was good.
The food was great value for money and very generous in portion size. The food was amazing, the service great and the ambience was lovely, could not ask for more. Have recommended friends, family and other work colleagues to come here.
This restaurant was very welcoming and friendly. The food and ambience were very good. We went the night before Halloween and the restaurant was trimmed up and the staff were also dressed up but they were not intrusive with it. Would highly recommend this place to family and friends
Unfortunately we were sat at front of restaurant & every time someone entered we were greeted with a cold breeze, not conducive to a relaxing meal. Food was good but service was a bit slow. Also was very noisy on the night we visited due to a large party and as the restaurant is only small was a bit overbearing.
Visited here with my young nephew, early Saturday, lovely food, very friendly, attentive service and lovely and warm on a cold winters night. Caters for dairy free and gluten free diet as all food freshly prepared. Really nice experience.
First time at this restaurant and we were really impressed. Staff were lovely, food was delicious, portions were generous and excellent value for money - we will definitely be back! I have already recommended it to my friends.
Very lovely resturant. The food was beautiful and very good choice even on the special valentines menu. Staff were friendly and attentive. Only downside as that there was a slightly long wait between courses but being valentines day I expect they were simply very busy
Choose from the set lunch menu, the carrot soup was delicious and our main course was very good. We did not have desert choosing instead to have coffee to finish our meal. Very good and friendly service
Excellent restaurant. Lovely atmosphere and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and very reasonable portions, I was very sad that I couldn't quite finish my main course! Will definitely visit again.
Great atmosphere, lovely, helpful service and delicious food and wine. I have never had so much seafood in a Frutti di Mare pasta dish and my friend's veggie dish was lush! Will certainly return!!
Well thought out menu - something for everyone - and a very good choice for vegetarians. Service pitched just right - an authentic Italian dining experience in a foodie hotspot of Birmingham. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant.
A small pleasant Italian restaurant on Harborne High Street. We have now dined here on three occasions and always enjoyed the food which is very reasonably priced and there's a good choice of dishes. Would definitely recommend it.
Service was excellent nice chatty waitresses, restaurant was really clean and great atmosphere, food was really good except our steaks were over cooked. I would come back as the menu is really extensive and the portions are huge.
Friendly and attentive local Italian restaurant, although for us was let down on the food. Felt the ingredients were not of high quality and tasted a little strange. Had to send back my main, which had a chemical taste, waitress was very accommodating and professional. A shame as support should always go to independents restaurant, but on this occasion we just weren't impressed.
Yet another great meal. Took our friends for the first time they are ready to return. Booked online ,again faultless. Many thanks to all for making this a great night out.
Wonderful service, lovely atmosphere, food was freshly made and hot on the plate, delicious and a good serving. Went home feeling full and happy. A truly special little gem in Harborne.
Very friendly service and the food was lovely. We didn't realise just how much we ordered but everything was really nice and we ate it all! We had such a great evening. Definitely would go again.
Very nice reasonably priced meal with attentive service. Went at lunch time they have a special lunch menu with very good choice on offer. Will be going again for certain.
A very nice meal, the food was good, the staff were attentive and the surroundings were pleasant. The only negative was that the drinks were a little bit pricey but dont let that deter you booking.
Service was excellent and the children's meals are all freshly cooked, their pasta was really good, but too much for the children to finish. We will use them again.
Really great food, chicken Parma was great and the salmon salad is always fab. So friendly to children, it looked loads bigger without the big chairs in the window.
We had fabulous food at a reasonable price. It is our kids favourite restaurant in Harborne - beating Prezzo and PE in their minds. Yet it is a proper night out for parents too.
Very nice evening. Food very good, good menu, staff and service excellent. Reasonable prices. We definitely go back again. This was our second time and enjoyed the experience.
Really nice meal and very friendly staff. It was not too expensive and the wine was good value for money and an easy drink. A most enjoyable evening
The staff were so lovely, they were friendly, tentative and seemed to genuinely want us to enjoy the night. The food was absolutely delicious, would definitely go back!
Very good service, very helpful staff and quality of food was good too. The ambience wasn't great, it seemed like a radio playing it the kitchen, but that was the only criticism really.
The food was of great quality and reasonably priced. We had a lovely bottle of Chianti to go with it. The staff were were very attentive to both the adults and the children.
Booking was very straight forward and quick, followed by a personal message from Maria. As it was Valentine's day, the menu was limited but we liked our choices, albeit the two desserts were both chocolate based. Service was friendly and attentive.
Great food, wine and friendly waitress. Would highly recommend. The interior decoration was also very impressive and also added to the relaxing atmosphere created by the waitress.
Our first visit to Maria's Emporio was a delightful experience. Staff were attentive and the food was wonderful. we will be visiting again in the near future.
Excellent service, delicious food and good value. Would definitely visit again and would recommend! We will be back to try some more of the yummy menu options.
Food was excellent and the interior was nice the only thing I can say bad is they were a little slow to bring the bill apart from that excellent food and service
Excellent food and a friendly service - good value for money! I would recommend this restaurant and I shall be visiting again in the near future
The service was slow but friendly. The food tasted very nice but was oddly piping hot, a bit like when you microwave something but I'm sure they didn't. I probably won't go back but others should definitely try it.
The food and wine was of a high standard and the service was good. Enjoyable evening was had by all. Good variety of choices on menu.
The decor was superb, the food even more so and the service was exceptional. I would highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to returning! :-)
