More about the restaurant: Fairuz Leeds
Billed as the best Lebanese restaurant in Yorkshire, Leeds’ Fairuz is truly a jewel in the city’s dining scene. Its name translates to turquoise – or perhaps it’s a tribute to Lebanon’s most famous and deeply-respected female singer – either way, what you find here is authentic Lebanese cuisine (meat and vegetarian dishes) matched with Lebanese and Tunisian wines and strong Arabic coffee to finish. This culinary oasis can be found on the ground floor of Fairfax House at the corner of Merrion Street and Wade Lane

Tucked into unassuming premises on the ground floor of Leeds’ Fairfax House, on the corner of Merrion Street and Wade Lane, is Fairuz, the city’s most authentic Lebanese restaurant. Guests are greeted warmly, and ushered into a beautiful, richly furnished dining area – Middle Eastern rugs and curios set the tone for a superlative evening of Lebanese (and Middle Eastern) dining. Whether you’re indecisive or uninitiated to the pleasure of Lebanese food, you can’t go wrong by ordering up the chef’s meze, with a selection of starters and mains curated by the expert kitchen staff, the special meze, where you choose a range of dishes from the menu, or the party meze, an all-night buffet of the chef’s meat and vegetarian tapas perfect for sharing with a large group.
Fairuz’ wine selection is really something special. Eschewing the usual list of international, old- and new-world wines, Fairuz has curated a list that features reds, whites, rosé, and dessert wines exclusively from Tunisia and Lebanon. The Tunisian offering is particularly interesting to fans of good French wine – the north African state’s history of French occupation has, at least, gifted the region with a wine-making tradition that has been adapted to the unique terroir of Tunisia. The Lebanese wines are almost exclusively rich reds, and all hark from the fertile Beqaa Valley, where wine has been made for over 6000 years. Leeds’ Fairuz is something special amongst Lebanese restaurants, and with spacious premises below Fairfax House on the corner of Merrion Street and Wade Lane, it’s absolutely suitable as a private hire for your next party.
