About GRAND CAFÉ
More about the restaurant: GRAND CAFÉ
The Grand Café is a spectacular, unmissable spot for any visitor to Oxford. Chelsea Clinton's favourite whilst studying at Oxford, she even brought her dad Bill Clinton in for lunch. Individually ground coffees and loose leaf teas, light lunches, high teas and champagne. It also happens to be the site of the UKs first coffee house, alt least according to Samuel Pepy. It’s a wonderful refuge for when it’s a bit grey outside – and any other occasion you can think of.

As with all things history, it’s worth taking a look into Samuel Pepy’s diary. Here we find a note in
1650 about the first coffee house in England. And, lo and behold, it’s on the site of the Grand Café,
which has since become an Oxford institution. During the day erving lunch, cream teas and high teas
all perfectly at home in the opulence of the marble-pillared, gold-leafed building. At night The Grand
Café is buzzing with locals, visitors and Oxford University students, taking advantage of the half price
cocktails on offer.
Enjoy a singularly wonderful experience, enjoy High Tea and enjoy a breathtaking décor. The Grand
Café makes full use of its name, providing you with an unmistakable air of sophistication and class,
it’s simply a lovely place to come to spoil yourself. The Grand is a gilded, mirror-clad art deco romp
with classical columns thrown in - a wonderful refuge when it's a bit grey outside. The stylish decor
complements the high quality food - the lunch menu is especially good. Apart from grills and other
bistro standbys, you can enjoy oysters, elaborate salads and many more beautifully presented and
