More about the restaurant: Gringo's

Tijuana comes to Huddersfield on the back of Gringo’s, a Mexican restaurant and BBQ Smokehouse that is the Central American love child of restless restaurateur Chris Lee. After working kitchens the world over – Australia, LA, and mother Mexico herself – Lee has finally gone to ground in Newsome. You can find Gringo’s hiding out at number 8 in the Railway Arches along Viaduct Street, where there’s an unbeatable Mexican menu waiting for you, with super service and funky vibes thrown in for free.

Thinking about making a Gringo's booking?

Chimichangas, enchiladas, fajitas. Those three classic dishes alone are drawcards for fans of Mexican, and those dishes are just three from the long menu at Huddersfield’s Gringo’s. Add to this burritos, quesadillas and snack-ready starters like chilli beef and vegetarian nachos, the so-called hush puppies (spicy sweetcorn and jalapeno fritters with chilli cheese), and smoky jumbo BBQ wings and this Newsome eatery, hidden under the railway arches along Viaduct Street, is unmissable.

Gringo’s has made a name for itself in Huddersfield for its capabilities as a Mexican-style smokehouse barbecue, too. To this end Gringo’s chief Chris Lee has created a range of secret spice rubs, mops and marinades, which he applies liberally to prime-cut meats before cooking them up slowly, in custom-built American smokers, over hickory, beechwood and applewood. You can smell Gringo’s railway arch outpost before you even reach Viaduct Street, thanks to house-smoked BBQ chicken, Texas Ultimate pulled meat nachos, the Carolina and Pit steak burgers, and the smoked Boss Hog hot dog. The hot and throbbing heart of Newsome’s dining scene, this Mexican joint is one that shouldn’t be passed up.
