Love the quirky decor but the service was slow and the toilets were a disgrace! Place looks like it could do with a good clean and wallpaper hanging off walls is not a good look! Felt that food was overpriced too. Sadly won’t be going back.

Amazing food and service. Really consistent in the quality and presentation. Great variety on the menu and very good value for money. We’ve never been disappointed here and keep coming back.

The service was fast and the staff were always attentive. The afternoon tea was delicious and substantial. The cost was very reasonable. Will be coming back again and will recommend to others.

Lovely meal, beautifully cooked mains and reasonably priced. Sweets were nice too but sticky toffee pudding and chocolate brownie would have been better served hot. Nice atmosphere and staff very friendly and accommodating. Thanks again - we'll be back!

A disappointing experience, dirty toilets, smelly hall, dry sandwiches, stale cake & scones . Jam served in plastic packets, had to keep asking for a cup of tea/coffee. Serving staff uninterested, only 6 people in the restaurant! we left & went to eat elsewhere.

Food was lovely...... however the service needs to be worked on after arriving having a table already booked we were told we would have to wait to be seated which was fine but the way we were told this wasn’t very welcoming! When mains came out we had no knife and folk we had to ask and waited 5 min to receive them with or mains getting cold....ordered a glass of wine waited 10mins to receive that think she forget! The other staff seamed very friendly maybe the person serving us was having an off day.....

Staff were very helpful. They allowed us to move tables in order for us to have a window table. When it came to ordering drinks, they recommended 2 fantastic gin & tonics. Food was excellent value for money

Kids loved there tea. Kids drinks could be more themed just a plain glass for kids drinks which took away from overall theme of the tea

Lively, busy restaurant with a great atmosphere and great food. A good night out. Chocolate brownie for dessert is absolutely delicious. Great views over the river too.

The location was beautiful right above the fishquay and looking out over the river. The roast dinner was too small the portion you received and the meat was overlooked. The fish and chips was nice. However my friend ordered the burger and was told they had ran out only to see half an hour later other people getting burgers. When I questioned the waitress on this she said they had just had a delivery, although it was a Sunday at 5:30! I would recommend for drinks, maybe we just got a bad day for food.

Food and service were both excellent. The venue provides wonderful views over the mouth of the Tyne and easy parking away from the crowds who descend on Tynemouth village at weekends.

I'd been raving to my family about how fab this place was so decided to take them for afternoon tea . Portion sizes seem to be massively reduced from the last time I was there . Very disappointing today

It was excellent for the young ones, but we had booked as 2 adults and were put in a room full of fancy dressed kids. Not conducive to a relaxing afternoon tea, so we left straight away. In future, it should be made clear that things are children based to avoid this disappointment. Since when have children had "afternoon tea"?

Staff were friendly and attentive, food was very good quality and value and the venue had a fabulous view over the quayside. Background music was not entirely appropriate to the venue or food though. Will definitely be booking again!

Service was appalling, no menus apart from cocktails which were never offered to purchase, we had to go to the bar to ask for extras that never came, and just take away bags ?! for cakes not boxes?! balloons popping and rowdy children in the next room made it a party atmosphere with loud music but no people ?!>>>> not as I expected and for the price paid ! won't be back

I was very disappointed with my visit to How Do You Do, the afternoon tea was the worst I've ever had. There was no choice of sandwiches - it was a case of this is what you have and there's no room for manoeuvre, the scones were cold (normally they are a least warmed up), the cakes were all shop bought and weren't very nice, there is no way that it was worth £21 for 2. The customer service was really poor, my friends and I did not enjoy the experience at all and we will not be returning here again.

Quality off food excellent, friendly waitresses but very poor structure and organisation as well as putting up with a door banging during the entire night there! Two starters not available. Mains came quick which was good.. then proceeded to clear two plates, left the 3rd and never came back! We then left without having a desert and felt disappointed. Shame as it has a lovely setting, good food and some nice staff!! Need to get better organised basically

This was lovely, not over busy so you could chat without having to raise your voice; quaint and quirky, furniture is a miss match but it looked perfect, the little things make the difference. Staff were all lovely and friendly too. Would have liked a bit more selection on the cakes :)
