Husaria

It’s not often that you think of heading for Polish meal, but with barnstorming restaurants like Bristol’s Husaria, it should be every week. Here is traditional Polish cuisine at its very best, brought to St Werburgh’s by a small team who sure do know their kievs from their cutlets. The restaurant – set just off Stapleton Road – is medieval in style and filled with historical charm, just like the menu, as it happens. Start with Hussar herring with red onions, apple, pickled gherkin and a mayo-based sauce, then perhaps a main of Silesian roulade, pork stuffed with onions and mustard then wrapped lovingly in crispy bacon. Perhaps not what most may be used to in the UK, but an absolute treat, nonetheless. Oh, and be sure to try the Polish dumplings – they are homely bundles of goodness. Round all of that off with some fine homemade pizzas and in Husaria you have one of the most original restaurants in Bristol. Be sure not to miss out and reserve a table now!
