La Campana - Livingston

La Campana is a cosy restaurant where traditional Italian dishes are offered up in mixture of tasteful Italian and hearty Scottish style. Sure, much of the menu at La Campana is predictably Italian, with many familiar favourites you would find and other Livingston joints like bruschetta, minestrone, pizza margherita, spaghetti carbonara, bistecca fiorentina and tiramisu. La Campana sets itself apart, though, and those who know Bellsquarry well (La Campana is on Calder Road, by the way) most probably already know about La Campana’s less common offerings, like the ostriche alla corsara (6 oysters, baked and stuffed with prawns, salmon and Tabasco sauce then topped with breadcrumbs), chef’s special bistecca (succulent steak with olive oil, wild mushrooms and Jack Daniels sauce) and homemade Italian walnut ice cream. The cosiness is part of La Campana’s charm, but it does mean it fills up quickly, so it’s always wise to book ahead.
