Lalezar Meze Bar & Grill BBQ - Rayleigh

Where do I start? We walked in just after a table of 16 who had booked but they didn’t have their booking. We waited 40 mins to be able to order a drink to be told we couldn’t order cocktails (even though the table next to us just had) we asked to speak to the manager who never came over. We then saw others going up the bar and ordering themselves which we did and got cocktails. Table next to us ordered a mushroom with cheese and garlic starter to just be given a plate of mushrooms. They eventually after everyone else had finished theirs was give. A Small bowl of grated cheese!!! No apology either. Table on the other side had finished their dinner and wanted one more drink and to pay the bill one hour later were still waiting. Another table came over to say how bad an experience they had had and left some money and walked out - other table did the same in the end but strangely they noticed them then. When we and another table tried to support them in that they had experienced appalling service and tried to pay and hour ago the manager had a go at us and told us he wasn’t serving us anymore which was ironic as he hadn’t anyway. I had just asked him if we could now have a cocktail and he said yes but instead of getting us one or asking what we wanted he took our plates and we hadn’t finished!! So we were then thrown out!! Table next to us didn’t get what they ordered or at the same time and we bumped into them after and they complained and didn’t pay full price. You could see most tables going up the bar and complaining as well. You don’t mind if busy or ran out of stuff but didn’t say this or any apologies to anyone. The bread was rock solid burnt but hallumi was actually nice. Lastly but extremely important - there was a man cooking (I noticed him as I thought why would you cook in a Ralph Lauren tshirt) but then also saw him out of the kitchen serving meals. I also saw him bringing out a barrel of beer and I also saw him coming in from outside the front door not even the back (possibly for a cigarette) and not once did he wash his hands!!!! Not a kitchen outfit insight either. Shame as we walked down the road to the other one after and they were brilliant. Serves straight away and lovely drinks - staff very friendly and funny and best chops ever - pick them instead!!! It was so bad it was funny just hope no one there got ill or ruined their Xmas night out too much!!

Awful service Rude manager Utter chaos with service, no drinks, refusing to get us drinks. Food only half prepared then refused to remove from bill. Dreadful

With regards to the food I cannot fault the quality. My main concern was from arrival it was 15 minutes B4 being asked about a drink, but that was after beckoning the waiter/waitress to ask for a drink. There was no entrée breads and in fact they arrived after the starters! My red wine turned up at the table, but we had to ask to open the bottle as it was a cork? The staff were lovely but the lack of keeping an eye on the customer did not work for me! Improved staff and customer care could Make a difference to this place.

We sat down at our reservation time of 7.30 and the restaurant was not overly busy waited about 5 mins and no menu's had arrived. My wife asked someone for the menu's again and they still did not appear. A group of ladies sat next to us on another table and a couple also sat next to us on another table they all received their menu's as soon as they say down . So with absolute disgust we walked out of the restaurant and went to Charcoal & Earth to spend our money there instead and had a great meal.

The evening was great. Service was perfect, attentive and discreet. Food fantastic.

As it wasn't busy we could choose our table. The waiting staff were attentive and very helpful when understanding I needed Gluten Free good only. I felt assurred and could therefore enjoy the meal with no worries.

Lovely welcome , we booked ahead. Food really nice. The bench seats were too low to sit at table comfortably and be able to eat

Great midweek lunch spot Very reasonable and tasty set price menu

Greeted by staff at door, shown to table and drinks order taken quickly. Everyone polite and looked happy to be there. Had to ask for bread and dips and for them to take food order. The meals were tasty, large portions and well presented but no salad so just meat and rice or chips. Atmosphere was good. Able to chat but background music. Not hurried and drinks re ordered but not pestered.

The food was excellent and when we first arrived things were great, but the lady in charge who saw us to the table seemed to be doing everything and there was a lack of communication with the staff which was a shame.

Lovely restaurant, great food and attentive staff, despite there being only 2 waiters serving! They also offered my girls free ice cream. A nice place to go socialise and eat!

Had a lovely evening at Lalezar Meze Bar & Grill with friends to celebrate my birthday quietly. The food was presented well with all the extras and sides that make Turkish cuisine delicious. Waiting staff were there when needed but not encroaching on privacy. We all agreed it was a good choice for our night out and will be visiting again.Thank you Lalezar

Staff were lovely, friendly & helpful. Food was amazing with very generous portions. Atmosphere was great - they had a lady singer who was interacting with the customers & had a fantastic singing voice - a really nice added touch to our evening.
