More about the restaurant: Le Bouchon Wine Bar

Le Bouchon has brought the fine wine and light dining typical of classic French bars a vins to London’s Blackheath. Le Bouchon, on Tranquil Vale, serves over 120 different wines by the glass, the carafe or the bottle. This cosy, quaint wine bar is the passion project of French expatriate Jean-Philippe Tessier, who was desperate to recreate the mood of his beloved eventide Paris upon his arrival in London. Recognising a dearth of proper French wine bars, he opened one himself. Lucky us. Making an evening of it at Le Bouchon is to be charmed.

Thinking about making a Le Bouchon Wine Bar booking?

Less an example of the French restaurants London has to offer than an expression of the other enduring legacy of French gastronomy – fine wine – Blackheath’s Le Bouchon is a wine bar with over 120 different vintages ripe for the picking. Tessier’s Gallic touch has been deftly applied to his Tranquil Vale bar a vin, successfully introducing Blackheath and London locals to a wonderful French tradition. It does count as one of the truly French restaurants in London, though, serving traditional charcuterie, cheeses, fresh produce from the Black heath farmers’ market – all expertly paired, of course.

According to Jean-Philippe Tessier, a true French wine bar is an artful mix: it must be relaxed and friendly yet stylish; it must satisfy patrons‘ desires for a quick glass after work or for a long evening spent sampling the international vintages on offer. The wines selection itself must be as broad and interesting as the food is simple and delicious. Le Bouchon in Blackheath’s Tranquil Vale is a place where Londoners can wine and dine in a space where traditions and terroir meet modernity. Take advantage of Le Bouchon‘s extensive global wine selection, traditional cuisine, pairing and advice, wine courses as well as wine tastings.
