Light on the Common

We had a wonderful dinner to celebrate my father's birthday. The food and service were top class and the wine was great. We loved the live music too!

I split our visit into two: I arrived half an hour before the table booking time as I needed to leave early. I was shown immediately to my table and served promptly with roast cod, which was very good. I then waited ten minutes for the rest of my party, but they didn't arrive so I paid and left. They arrived somewhat late, but they too had no wait, good food (mustard chicken) and excellent, pleasant service. This restaurant is good value and to be recommended as a pre-concert venue.

My burger was really under cooked and so I left most of it. The staff recognised it but I didn't want to wait for it to be cooked further or changed.

The ambience of the restaurant is beautiful with the lighting & water sculpture creating a serene & seductive environment. The chef created a wonderful selection of fusion inspired dishes which were Micelin star worthy! The staff were impeccable with the team working well to ensure a friendly and attentive service. I strongly recommend this cafe/restaurant as a foodie destination.

A buzzy cozy restaurant with soft lighting, attentive staff and an excellent menu. I chose sea bass on a bed of squid ink risotto. Delicious. Wines by bottle or glass.

Food was extremely good but service was really slow, not because they were busy but due to waitress being pretty vacant. She was more intent on folding napkins and we had to constantly call her over. Quite annoying when service fee of £27 was added to our bill!!

Overall really good - food was delicious and not too heavy for lunch, also very good value.

I visited today with my client a 93 year old lady all the staff today couldn't have been more helpful lovely pleasant young staff they are a credit to you. The food was outstanding many thanks we shall come again.

Food amazing and setting was great. However you always seem to be understaffed so service is slow. Not the waitresses fault but maybe you can have more people working on a shift. This time we were relaxed with time so it was fine but that is not always the case. Anyway great overall.

Such a delicious meal (crab tortellini followed by panna cotta). Service was exemplary.

Met friends for lunch, first visit to the restaurant. Very welcoming staff and friendly throughout our meal. Good choice of starters and main courses. I had the super salad with black rice etc and chicken, really tasty and big portion. No room sadly for dessert but an interesting selection on the menu. We all enjoyed our meals. We will be back.

Overpriced small portions of food. Simple recipes, nothing special. Staff was quite miserable, never a smile and it looked like they wanted us gone asap. We wrote in the booking that we needed a highchair for our 2yo but they were not equipped for children, no highchair and no children menu. Also - found slightly weird that despite being next to the Common and next to pet shops, dogs are not allowed, neither outside. Overall, not worth it! Many other better places in the Village, more authentic and nice food and better value!

Lovely interior, mostly attentive staff, delicious tuna starter and mains. Had to chase to get dessert order taken and bread & butter pudding disappointed. Will definitely return.

The service was great Bloody Mary’s delicious. Super food salad could have been dressed better and had too much uncooked kale for my husbands taste. Beef hash cakes our guests enjoyed said were tasty asked for toast as a bit of a small portion.

The staff are always so friendly here and the ambience in the restaurant is lovely. A separate lunchtime menu with more lighter options would be really good.
