The Hunber Bridge may be a long way from the Straits of the Bosphorus – culturally, architecturally, culinarily to say the least – but in the north of the Hull, towards the University of Hull, there is a restaurant that can give you a small taste of Turkey. Meze Bar and Grill offers a menu of Mediterranean morsels that takes in all the best of the cuisine: mezze, in the form of falafel, halloumi, sucuk and more; kebabs, from the shish to the Adana and the Iskender; and seafood. You can reach them easily on Cottingham Road, close to the cross with Beverley Road. Certainly a large amount easier than taking a journey to Istanbul or Ankara, and while we can’t say that the weather in North Hull will be comparable, but the food might well be. A lovely clean and friendly restaurant. Food was delicious and could order for vegans. My pasta was to spicy hot but that was no fault. Overall a lovely place to dine.
We ate at meze on a friday night, the restaurant had a great atmosphere. The food was excellent at a reasonable price. We will definitely be returning.
