Montalcino is one of the most picturesque hill towns in Tuscany, famous for its wine and mediaeval architecture. In other words, a long way from Gatley. You can get a taste of the Tuscan countryside, however, by making a move to Montalcino Restaurant on Church Road, where they offer up an authentic taste of Italy to all those who enter. Montalcino serve all the classics of the Italian culinary canon, but we’d like to focus on the house specialities which you will struggle to find elsewhere: our tips would be carpaccio di manzo to start, with peppered fillet steak, followed by a pasta course of penne alla norma, with aubergine and salted ricotta and then something truly special from the mains such as their branzino, roasted sea bass with tender broccoli and a salsa verde. Montalcino are new to the Manchester Italian restaurant scene, but they’re certainly making a name for themselves: book today to find out why.

Fabulous food from a classic Italian menu, very friendly staff and good prices. Decor is understated in a good way. What more could you want. Highly recommended
We had lovely time and very lovely meal the staff was very friendly and overall the food was excellent we will be going back .
Thursday evening and very quiet but still good. The specials are always worth going for and the swordfish this time was no exception. Great food, service and wine - try it - highly recommended.
Lovely food, great service. Great value for money. Went as family of four with two young daughters (6 & 8). 3 of us had pizza and 1 prawn tagliatelle
We had a lovely meal, good atmosphere and good food. Small restaurant seats 36. Good decor. We had 3 adults and two children and all enjoyed their meal. The Merlot was very good.
We went on a last minute booking on New Year's Eve and managed to get a table - great. The welcome was warm, the service efficient and the food delicious. Highly recommended.
Great food overall, but our choice of beef carpaccio was unavailable and the chicken Caesar salad did not come with little gem lettuce as was stated on the menu. Staff were friendly and atmosphere pleasant.
A very pleasant, tidy and professional establishment. The menu was very standard Italian fayre, no surprises , everything you would expect and I was pleased that the food was served quickly and tasted fantastic.
Small and intimate, easily the nicest restaurant currently on the Gatley 'Strip'. Sensibly priced wine list, been back twice since our first visit - not tried desserts yet, looking forward to getting the chance!
We have visited this restaurant a couple of times before and again the food was excellent. Friendly attentive service. Wonderful evening ! I would recommend for family meals, celebrations or "date nights" !
Excellent meal in a stylish but welcoming setting. Would be useful to provide details on the menu of the accompanying veg/potatoes with the main fish and meat dishes. Definitely will return.
First time visiting here. The staff were very friendly and the food was fresh and cooked just perfect will be going back again for sure.
First time visit after recommendation , excellent service and food tasty and perfectly cooked, great environment to eat . Will be going again very soon
Very nice place, cosy and personable. Staff lovely. Food fabulous. Great service and nice ambiance. Good value for money. Will definately recommend to friends and will be back soon.
Great little place, friendly staff, pizza base very good, pasta was very tasty and nice, reasonably priced, would definitely return just for the pizza 🍕 but all food was great.
Suburb meal, with great home cooked food. Lovely atmosphere and great service from very good staff. Would recommend everyone to visit this fabulous new place in Gatley.
Great service and good food if a little expensive. The portions are generous but a little anglicised - a bit too much cheese on the pizza making it heavy.
