Thinking about making a Nimboo Bar & Restaurant booking?

The man in charge in the kitchen is Indian master chef Muninder Kumar, formerly of the Taj and Hyatt hotels in India and now thankfully quite at home in Beeston. Fans of real deal Indian food flock to Nimboo Indian Bar & Restaurant from all over Nottingham for its bold approach to traditional Indian cuisine – the restaurant’s unassuming premises down Villa Street belie the treasure that lies within, not least being a warm welcome and its surprisingly spacious, TARDIS-like interior, complete with well-stocked bar.

Truer to tradition than most Nottingham Indian restaurants, Nimboo Indian Bar & Restaurant’s list of vegetarian starters keeps pace with its meaty counterpart in terms of options. Go for the puri hot channa, chickpeas tossed with a blend of spices and served on puri bread, or the chilli mogo, cassava chips tossed in a homemade chilli tomato sauce, before tackling the highly recommended sharing platters for two: the Maharaja platter offers paneer tikka, onion bhaji, spring rolls and veggie samosa, while the Shahi sizzler presents a selection of tandoori delights like chicken tikka, sheekh and hariyali kebabs, and lamb chops. The seafood platter is just as lavish with a bounty of Amritsari-style fish, tandoori’d king prawns, salmon tikka and more. While the main courses cover all the usual bases plus that little bit extra, Beeston’s secret weapon when it comes to dining has some unique dishes up its sleeve courtesy of the experienced head chef. Our pick is the murgh khaas korma, delicate as a korma should be but given the royal treatment with a sauce infused with rose petals and sandalwood.
