Orchid Newcastle

Vastly overhyped. Meal OK, but disappointed - was led to expected such more. Expensive.

Food was fantastic. Service a little slow but the staff are amazing regardless. They gave us complimentary liqueurs which was a lovely touch. We will be back!

Last time I was here I had a banquet with friends. Delicious! Service excellent.

Food was really lovely, staff were great and really attentive. The atmosphere in the restaurant was really good and we would definitely come again soon.

Good food and very efficient and friendly waiters. We went on Sunday evening and it was pleasantly full with a Good atmosphere too.We didn't do the banquets as preferred to self select and the food was very good. Everything cooked to order. I would Recommend orchid and also it's on the Quayside too which sets it apart from other restaurants.

Nice enough, service was good but food quite average I thought. It was very busy with the loud race crowds from the Newcastle Plate but staff were still attentive and pleasant

Fantastic food and service, great relaxed atmosphere, you never feel rushed and are given enough time in-between courses. Please try the smoked chicken as it is amazing. A special mention to William as well always good to see you again you always give great service with a smile on your face.

Really enjoyed our meal last night. Restaurant was very clean. Food was delicious especially the duck. The staff were very attentive and we will be returning again soon.

Enjoyed our meal - plenty choice of menu and a good wine list. Would recommend chicken satay, prawns and the monkfish. The waiters were excellent

We had a wonderful night for my sisters birthday. The food was excellent, staff were professional and courteous and the service was first class. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. We will be returning soon for another wonderful meal.

Excellent starters and good main meal, great service. Will definitely eat here again as it's just a nice level of spice and great value for money.

Reasonable prices, tasty food and polite staff. Will be going back for more. The atmosphere and decor is very calming and the toilets very clean.

Yet again this restaurant proves to be the best Chinese in Newcastle. Food and service are first class. I will be visiting this restaurant again.

The food and the service you receive are second to none. Very much recommended. Our party had nothing but good words to say about our experience. This is about the 5th or 6th time we have been. We will be back. Soon.

Restaurant is lovely, it wasn't that busy but it was Easter Sunday, I have been when the place has been full. I opted for the dim sum plater, sizzling beef, vermicelli noodles and chocolate pud, all were fantastic. Not the cheapest place but you pay for quality. Definately return soon.

Fifth visit - and as good as ever - beautiful food in a beautiful setting and excellent service! Probably the best Chinese food we have had.

Excellent atmosphere fantastic staff . Gorgeous food and generous portion sizes. Would definitely recommend to anyone in Newcastle. Very close to rover the building is an old warehouse so plenty of room.

First time at the orchid , brilliant service and beautiful food salt and chilli king prawns were the best I v had beautiful . All the food was served red hot , very good prices and we will be visiting again

Food was fantastic. Waited a little while longer for main meal than I'd expect but was more than made up for by how delicious it was. Had stuffed crab claws and prawn dumplings followed by chilli and garlic squid. Wonderful. Staff were friendly and professional.

Nice welcoming reception, followed by exceptional food. You can tell the chef/chefs know what they are doing. If you're taking the car, park in the Copthorne car park (opposite) and hand your ticket to the waiter/waitress collecting the bill - you'll get free parking. Close enough to the waterfront to allow a lovely walk after the meal, taking in all the bridges along the Tyne.

The orchid is a lovely restaurant..As happens every time we have been, gemma and her staff are very helpful and friendly and the food is the best..parking is easy ....don't go to stowell Street...go to the orchid...i

Contemporary restaurant with a wide ranging menu. Excellent service. Deceptively large as it has several discreate but linked eating areas. This means there is a good ambience even when not full, and large groups can be accommodated separately.

First class meal and service make this the best Chinese restaurant in Newcastle. Will return whenever we are in the area. One not to be missed.

Food great. In at 5.30, by 7.25 only 2 courses served. We had a concert to go to 7.30 start. Paid bill had to leave

The food was delicious - especially the starters. The service was good although appeared a little disorganised at times. The atmosphere would be improved by some background music. The only criticism would be the strange smell on entering the restaurant??

Fabulous service, great food and a relaxed evening enjoyed by us all - great place, nice decor too. We went for a birthday and it felt like was a real treat!
