This is a good restaurant in the upper part of the High Street, Dorchester if you want one of three options: puppadoms with little delicacy spice or mild pickle pots then a starter and after that, move on to a main course; just the puppadoms and pickle immediately before the main course (which is what we did); or, just the main course no-frills no-puppadom. 4 of us went before 6.00pm on a Saturday because of a need to take part in a show (concert) at 7.30 so a need to be served quickly. The sound system plays solo jazz piano quite discreetly but that might get on some diners' nerves after a while. We suspect that the restaurant may be under new management as some of the interior plan of the restaurant has changed since late autumn 2024. From the autumn 2025 menu, we all liked our individual choices: Narangee (little rolls stuffed with spinach), tandoori halibut, chicken korma [which did need a basmati rice side], and Punjabi lamb rorra curry.

I'd heard good things about the restaurant, so we travelled a little distance to try, quite frankly we thought it was quite ordinary, the lamb in my meal was tough and grisly, the naan was soggy and the starter, with the exception of the chicken lacked flavour. In balance my wife enjoyed her chicken curry.

The much heralded Old Delhi Chicken dish was tasty but very sweet. The Chicken Dansak was better. The naan I imagine had started out crispy but by the time it was served to us, it was a bit soggy. Most of the staff were fine. However, the chap that took our order did so in the most perfunctory and soulless manner. We took it all gracefully but it didn't make for an overly pleasant experience. Hmmmm.

Very well looked after . We enjoyed the meal and will visit again soon. It wasn't that expensive and was a pleasant meal with friends and they thought it was really good as well.
