Every visit the food I order is never available. Bar staff need to learn to serve customers in order and not just friends and drinking staff first

Tasty and classy home cooked food , great selection of proper beer, excellent service and a lovely old pub with warm fire, beams and welcoming service. Recommend the chicken and chorizo pie but excellent choices on menu way beyond normal pub food.

Took family for Sunday lunch and we honestly can't remember a Sunday roast which we enjoyed more. We chose roast turkey and trimmings and roast lamb. Glad that we booked as it was very busy .Beautifully cooked meal and so substantial we couldn't manage pudding - perhaps next time!

Excellent roast meal. Cooked to perfection and really good quality service especially considering the pub was absolutely rammed as there was a private function on in one room.

We had to wait a very long time for our main course, they forgot about us. They only took action after we complained. When the food arrived, it was overcooked, the potato skins were terrible! They did apologise for the poor service and did take off our bill the cost of two rounds of drinks without us asking. I am sorry to say that I will not be going back.

We went at a weekday lunch time. Staff were friendly and helpful. The 3 starters for £15 platter was well presented, had generous portion sizes and tasted good. We would have liked to have seen more variety in lighter hot meals on the Menu (e.g. jacket potatoes). Parking is limited and it is best to assume you need to park elsewhere (there are some options nearby).

Lovely atmosphere and great food. I took my mum for Mothers day and I can not fault the service/food and atmosphere, we both enjoyed it. I would recommend it if you want the friendly country pub experience - you can take your dog if you want too.

Took some visitors from America to The Rose and Crown (St Michael's Street) for Sunday lunch. Very pleased we booked as they were busy. At £12.50 maybe not the cheapest but very generous portions of good quality and well cooked meats, lovely selection of veg too. Our visitors said it was the best meal they've had since being in the UK!

Lovely pub with oak beams and a roaring fire. Great food from a traditional English pub menu but with a modern twist and large portions. The staff were friendly
