Swindon’s Rustico walks the line between casual and refined Italian dining, with huge, hearty portions of delicately done traditional meals. There is certainly a lot that’s rustic here, from their crispy stonebaked mozzarella, fresh basil and tomato pizzas bubbling out of the oven to an agnello al rosmarino (rack of lamb cooked in garlic, red wine and rosemary) dished up alongside a mound of healthy country-style vegetables. However, that is not to say that this popular eatery on Commercial Road in the town centre is not a place for distinguished dining, and while Rustico’s homemade desserts are perhaps the most exquisite menu items, everything is presented with an elegance and eye for detail to suit any occasion from a romantic date night to an important business lunch.
