The specials included a lobster dish as a starter or for mains. But I delight in Prawn Tempura and what a delight it was - large succulent prawns with a sauce. Simply exquisite. I chose the Fish Stew. The title didn’t do justice to the large collection of prawns and mussels surmounted by two pieces of fish. Again, excellent.

The soup was a meal in itself. It was spicy with chorizo. Delicious. Some had the crispy belly pork. Next time I’ll try that. But I had the fish served also with chorizo and a tasty sauce. Excellent. If you think Sale Pepe is just a pizzeria, think again!

As well as providing a brilliant atmosphere and top quality on an evening we have now experienced Sunday lunch which is also superb !

11 guys met for a beer (or lager) and catch up ... along with food, of course. We had a splendid time. Food choices were from across the menus. One observation only - the starter Melanzane alla Parmigiana could have had greater evidence of aubergines! All plates went back clean! We were too satisfied to trouble the dessert menu. It was a good night with a good atmosphere.

Took my daughter there tonight for the first time ! I have to say the food was excellent but the service was exceptionally ! We will definitely return soon

Regular visitor, love it , so does my five year old granddaughter

Tried the smoked salmon fish cake starter. Served with sweet chilli sauce and salad. Too little fish in the fish cake. My wife enjoyed her Pil Pil prawns and pizza. I had the Sea bass served with creamed potatoes. Delicious.

Big parties in let place down as noise levels were very high. I wanted a quiet night to talk to my daughter and found it very difficult to do so

We moved into Shotley Bridge approx 4 months ago and have visited Sale Pepe on a few occasions, each of which has been fab, it is now our local.

We go to Sale Pepe quite often as it’s just walking distance from our house. The food, staff and atmosphere are great, first class!

Excellent quality and the service is brilliant. The restaurant also has a very vibrant atmosphere and is our favourite place to eat on a Saturday evening.

The food was excellent. Initially we did not go to the booked table. Two reminders and 30 minutes elapsed before our order was taken. Foolishly we ordered a delightful and very large selection of bread. But the Pil Pil and King Prawn starters came with huge chunks of bread! The fish was - as always - superb. Shared some delicious home made chips - wholly unnecessary - and we left some. We’ll be back...
