Shahibs is a modern, elegant Indian and Bangladeshi restaurant right in the heart of the action in Bowness, just steps from the World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, St. Martin’s Church and the town centre on Craig Brow. It’s a fine choice for discerning lovers of South Asian cuisine in Cumbria, dedicated principally to the traditions of Bengali food and dining. That means plenty of fresh fish and seafood, flavourful vegetables and lentils, but it also means one of the few multi-course dining traditions to have developed in South Asia, as Bengali meals often comprise small dishes brought out one after the other like French degustation dining. For that reason, we think going for the special set menus at Shahibs are a good choice, as it gives you a taste of everything in true Bengali style. There is also a great wine selection at Shahibs and tonnes of vegetarian options, so it suits special events and groups visiting the Lake District looking for something special but casual.

Fantastic family get together. Warm welcome, speedy efficient ordering of drinks and food all in a calm and relaxing ambience! Meals themselves were delicious! A Bowness winner! Thanks to all at Shahibs, especially Jack!
Food selection was good with a limited wine list by the glass. Staff were pleasant and the service was quick and offered hot towelettes after dinner which were refreshing. However after the main we were not offered an opportunity for desserts, coffee or afterdinner spirits and they seemed keen to get us out at 845pm and not interested in prolonging our patronage. Other people were just sitting drinking beers. Although the service was quick and pleasant it was not the place to go for a dining experience.
Fabulous food and really lovely welcoming and friendly staff! Food came out in good time, no long waits in between courses, would visit again if ever back in Bowness!
It's not really India cuisine. Butter chicken was sweet, tandoori chicken was too dry and naan was chewy. Didn't enjoy the food that much at this place.
