Subcontinental cooking is well-loved in the UK, and whether the dishes are from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal or Sri Lanka, the British punters are always willing to fire into a curry of a Friday evening. The fire is optional, however: while spice is always welcome in some quarters, there is much more to Indian cooking than just chillies, and at Shampaan on Crewe Road in Sandbach, they like to go through the whole repertoire. Begin your meal with a few tandoori specialities – chicken and lamb tikka, seekh and rashmi kebabs, lamb chops, king prawn – or a pakora or three, before moving onto a house signature such as the Shampaan Stir Fry, a dry curry of lamb or chicken tikka with peppers, garlic and spring onions. You can get to Shampaan easily – Wheelock isn’t a big place after all – so head on over with your family for a proper Indian feed in Sandbach.
