With a menu that promises to ‘have your tastebuds explode with flavours that are beyond your traditional taste’, you’d better brace yourself when you book a table at this feisty newcomer to Whitley Bay’s growing bar and restaurant landscape. The mandate at this Whitley Road restaurant covers the three most famous of South Asia’s myriad cuisines – Indian, Punjabi, and Bangladeshi – given a good working over by Kamrul Hussain and his kitchen staff, with the head chef himself equipped with over 20 years experience, and doubles as a cocktail bar and lounge for a spirited pre- or post-meal tipple. Just a couple of blocks towards the sea from Whitley Bay station, and therefore with good connections to Newcastle and not too far of a drive from South Shields, Shampan is setting the stage for success. My Husband sister and i had a lovely evening at the Shampan. The service was impeccable and the food sensational. We left before12 just as the dancing was to begin would certainly go again.
Never disappointed with this restaurant. Food excellent, serving staff always pleasant & the manager always there to make sure you enjoy your night.
Good food and friendly staff. Never fails this restaurant. Lovely. Will return again and again. Has certainly struck a chord with the residents of Whitley Bay.
We dine at this restaurant regularly & can honestly say we are never disappointed. The food always delicious, the service excellent & the ambiance first class.
Amazing restaurant and amazing tasty food! Staff fantastic nothing any trouble. We had chicken tikka chat for starters. It was presented beautifully and tasted as good as it looked. You could taste every fresh ingredient perfect! For main course I would strongly recommend chicken Juliet! Wow what a dish!! It is strips of chicken and lamb in spices mixed with red peppers and onion, when the lovely staff bring it to your table it is then soaked in Brandy then set alight! You could taste everything again cooked to perfection that just melts in your mouth! My partner had Punjabi chicken tikka masala this is so different to the usual chicken tikka masala and me being me had to try! Again wow! Beautiful again perfect! I don't usually have a dessert but when I seen the desert menu I made room!! A beautiful desert beautifully presented!!! Mango sorbet with coconut ice cream topped with iced raspberry, kiwi and lychee drizzled with mango purée with a raspberry and blueberry fruit! mmmmmmm so yummy!!! The cocktails are amazing too! Shampan's own and the snowblerone again mmmmm I cannot wait to go back again! A beautiful experience second to none!!!!!
We have now been six times to the Shampan Cocktail Lounge and as usual, the food, the service and the whole experience was exceptional. We are happy to recommend the resteraunt to all who enjoy a good curry.
my second visit to the Shampan Cocktail Lounge Restaurant in Whitley Bay was not a disappointment! The service, and ambience, the food, all faultless!!! I will be going back next month, with yet more friends. Simply Superb!
Restaurant was nicely decorated and bright, seated in one of the booths, lots of choice on the menu and staff were very friendly. The food was delicious, probably one of the best Indian meals I've had in a long time. The portions were big - good value for money and very nicely presented. Took my 12yr old son who's never had a "sit in" Indian meal before and he can't wait to go back.
This was my second visit. after being impressed the first time, I decided to come again - this time with other people - and wasn't disappointed. the service, food and atmosphere were all excellent, as was the price. One of the best Indian restaurants in Whitley Bay and without doubt, the best cocktail lounge. Highly recommended for anyone who loves Indian food.
third time there but this time took my wife,s parents (80 years and 78 years) who enjoyed the food, the service and the staff. My wife and I enjoyed our night which we always do. This place is getting better with time rather then sitting back their are ramping up the customer experience.Any one reading this just go and enjoy.
