Shampan Cocktail Lounge

Great décor, good food, friendly service and the usual excellent value Thursday night special deal. If I'm being super critical some of our party said that their starters weren't quite as good as others in a couple of other, similar standard local restaurants. This probably is nit-picking though. Will visit again without hesitation.

Food quality excellent. Staff attention excellent. Overall experience excellent. Menu very well laid out and speedy service. Only slight observation and it's not a negative as such is that the restaurant is VERY brightly lit. Quite unusual for an evening sitting.

This was a nicely decorated restaurant and the food was also nice but nothing special. I was hoping for something a bit more interesting from the menu but it was same old "traditional " dishes. Pleasant but no wow factor

A little mix up with the order which was soon rectified. Food was fantastic & we were given complimentary drinks for the mix up. We will definitely be going back

Very very busy on Saturday night, asked if we could move to cocktail area directly after our meal, but were given a free drink which whas very nice,did hear one couple complain they were kept waiting an hour! Food as always exceptional and staff extremely attentive if a little rushed, already looking forward to next visit x

Good decent food served pipping hot but took an age to come - the restaurant was very busy and seemed to struggle to get the food out in a reasonable timeframe.

Great food. Dreadful disorganised service...45 minutes in and I ordered my drinks from the bar as they still hasn't taken a drinks order! This was a real shame as the food was ace when it did arrive. I would use this place for take away but don't think I would sit down to eat.

Great atmosphere and decor, great staff very attentive and friendly without being overpowering. scrumptious food well presented , good wine list and beers reasonably priced.

Tried the Sunday night special meal and it was fabulous, as previous visits have been. We were the first there, after opening, but the restaurant very shortly filled up. Fab food, great service, excellent price!

Best Indian cuisine around - nowhere else comes close - excellent food, service and surroundings.

Fantastic service as always, the staff are so attentative. The food is amazing with a wide range of dishes to choose from. My son loves their fish curry, and has tried two different sauces.

Fantastic food; best Indian restaurant in Whitley Bay. Can't wait to go back and try some different dishes. Everything was cooked to perfection and tantalized the taste buds. Staff were friendly and helpful too.

Lovely environment for a meal and the food was delicious, cocktails were really good and the shampan special very refreshing, staff very friendly and pleasant. The only slight issue was the dance class noise from above, but as it got busier this got less noticeable.

Food and ambience just as good as our first visit, a couple of weeks ago, but it was much busier, so service was a little slow. Still wouldn't hesitate to recommend, at all.

Delicious, excellent quality food. Staff very friendly, welcoming and efficient. Decor of the restaurant is very chic, light and airy - tables not too close together so didn't feel cramped even though it was busy.

You are made to feel welcome from the time you walk in the door till the time you leave. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and inviting. Staff were all very pleasant and wanting to help you, giving advice when needed on certain unfamiliar meals. The food was well cooked, tasty and well presented. An altogether enjoyable experience.

Visited on two occasions now - delicious food, welcoming staff, beautiful decor, - quite simply couldn't fault it.. We've tried different dishes on both occadions and you really are spooky for choice Would recommend it to anyone..

What a change, Shampan has been beautifully decorated and has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff were very helpful and our meal was fantastic I will definitely be going back and would certainly urge everyone to do the same

Lovely restaurant, quality furnishings, food and drinks menu extensive and all 5 of us enjoyed a really lovely meal. Slight delay in bringing out one of the items and without being asked the manager gave us free shots at end of meal. Very good service and will definitely go again.

Restaurant was nicely decorated and bright, seated in one of the booths, lots of choice on the menu and staff were very friendly. The food was delicious, probably one of the best Indian meals I've had in a long time. The portions were big - good value for money and very nicely presented. Took my 12yr old son who's never had a "sit in" Indian meal before and he can't wait to go back.

ask for glasses for water never got them one member of the party did not receive her drink when everybody got theirs 1 nan was missing so had to ask for it to be fair it was a bit busy
