Excellent food. Busy night with large group in but kept checking we were ok. Would recommend!! Excellent rissotto / steak. Reasonable prices for excellent quality.

One vegetarian option! Not acceptable nowadays...would they expect meat eaters to be told what they can have? I remembered a veggie menu on last visit but waitress said not...

Slow service but great food.Absolutely stunning old building with decor that is sympathetic to the style while making it feel fresh and new.Very reasonably priced to boot! Just customer service needs to improve.

I've been waiting to go to six poor folk for a couple of years now so was really looking forward to our booking and thankfully I was not disappointed at all! The service was superb. Very friendly and efficient staff who were comfortable to make a little joke here & there and the food was amazing too. Had the Hanger Steak and it was cooked to perfection and as for the mushroom ketchup...sounded weird but can I buy a whole jar please??? Best meal out I've had in a long time. Can't wait to go again.

Generally good, beer was not very nice, seasonal veg tasted ok but looked like kale or cabbage with some other veg finely chopped, I was expecting broccoli and perhaps cauli, veg let it down. Was not impressed with tin dishes.

A lovely evening for my birthday. Great food and superb staff. It really could not have been any better. Thank you to everyone at 6 Poor Folk. Maybe a few more Vegan options but the Beetroot and coconut curry was amazing .

Lovely food and really different. It's a super place and the staff were very helpful. Only one small thing stopped this getting a 6 star rating- the good could have been a bit hotter. Will be back when I am next in Knavesbrough

We have eaten here three times, each time we have been surprised with the menu, always with an interesting surprise. I had the mussels, they were delicious followed by a tasty pork chop with a crisp red cabbage pickle. Our wine was also lovely, not too strong for a lunch time jolly. Certainly will return !

My first visit under the new management. As I told Roger yesterday evening, the food, his staff, the whole experience was simply one of excellence. I don't eat out very often myself, but am more than happy to spead the good news that this is a place where one can expect maximum satisfaction on all levels.

Informal atmosphere and friendly staff who were attentive without being overly efficient. Our food was really tasty- well cooked steak and veg combinations we'd not had before but would have again. We love this place just need more regular baby sitters!

Warm friendly service and great food. Loving the new menus offering good variety of choice for both vegetarian and meat lovers. Only one small downside, 2 of our party love a cheese board rather than desert and although on the website menus it wasn't available.

Good food. Friendly staff and good service- what more could you want? !! Perfect for a walk into town, so wine is a great option and the walk home ends a lovely evening.

Unfortunately the waitress split an entire large glass of wine over me, they were apologetic and it was an accident, but they gave me the rest of a bottle, which I hadn't asked for, and nothing off the meal. Really tasty food though, just a shame about the accident.

Good food. Good service. Helpful friendly staff. Good atmosphere. Nice place. Reasonable priced dishes. Nice to see some decent vegetarian options too and a selection of fish and meat. Alcohol also good - selection of local beers on draught and wine good and not over-priced.

Had the salad ... Mainly lettuce and leaves asked for chicken but just before the food arrived told there was no chicken but would bacon chorizo do instead. Obviously choosing something else would have delayed my meal so went with this. Poor amount of bacon and chorizo arrived but with the lighting turned down couldn't see just how poor this salad was with the lettuce. For over £10 I think salads should have peters onions cheese olives and not just lettuce. Especially if you pay extra for chicken. Have something else or go somewhere else.. So Bar does better value better food.

Good food with good customer service. I have been before when it was under different management and found it lacking, however this little gem of a restaurant has improved 100% and has a bright future.

Always love the atmosphere here especially when Paul Mirfin band is playing! Disappointed with the food in that the meat served to one of the party was pretty tough however everyone else seemed very pleased. Service good in that there was a replacement meal offered but the bill was not reduced to include the cheaper meal. The service was already added to the bill and we were told it wasn't so we contributed again without realising it. Felt a bit done about that. Things always get complicated when a group is being catered for but that seems to be the nature of the beast. On the whole would go back especially for our group gatherings, the staff are always very pleasant it's just the end where you have to work out the bill, there must be an easier way!

This was not the first time we visited SIX POOR FOLK, and this visit was just as good as previous visits. The service was first class and the staff were very attentive, but not overly so THe food was very tasty and we did not have to wait very long. COST WAS ABOUT £45.00 for two starters, main courses couple of glasses of wine and a pint...Good Value A very casual dining experience and we will most definately visit again.....LOVE IT

Pre-theatre supper, but no problems. We were welcomed and looked after warmly, and the food was served prmptly but not rushed. There was an interesting selection of dishes for all courses, which made it difficult to choose. We all chose asparagus, but we're delighted with the surprise of the accompanying crispy duck eggs. The egg was very complementary with the asparagus and added substance. I thoroughly enjoyed my main course of baked aubergine and mushrooms, by my fellow diners were very impressed with the dramatic presentation if their vege burgers, which arrived as towering stack to the table. They spent the rest of the meal extolling the virtues of celeriac (which is not something you normally hear, even if it is one of THE most versatile vegetables). Lovely meal, but no room for dessert!
