The staff were excellent and really made us feel welcome and made a fuss of the dogs. The food was excellent and appeared home made. A good range of real ales/beers. Good value for money as well. We will definitely be back!
Very friendly and vibrant pub with great food! My husband and I had a delicious dinner on friday evening. Service was good and very reasonably priced.
Really lovely pub, great atmosphere and very very good and friendly staff. Dogs made very welcome. Will definitely return. Food was delicious too and very generous portions
Great proper pub! Warm, great food, great booze and a fantastic local atmosphere. Not too many of these pubs around anymore, long may they continue.
Friendly welcome by staff & great decor & atmosphere. Good range of draught ales. Bar man offered a sample of cider to help my decision. Shown to table & given menu with specials- waitress gave her recommendation from the specials. Carafe of iced water brought to table without being asked. I had belly of pork with beetroot & apple - delicious. My Husband was very happy too with the fish & chips. We did not require anything else. We will definitely return- great evening.
We arrived - as booked - around 7pm but had to go to the bar to attract attention. By the time we were given a menu we had been waiting for 30 minutes. From then on things went well although my guest's disappointment was evident.Admittedly the bar was busy but the waitresses seemed to be spending more time chatting with the customers than welcoming - or noticing! - our arrival! Once the menu arrived - with apologies for the delay- all went well......and the food was good. I'm prepared to try it again-maybe not on a Saturday evening!
My husband and I enjoyed our evening at St. James Tavern. The food and service was excellent. And the pub was friendly and had a lovely atmosphere.
it’s a nice cosy, dog friendly pub with candle lit tables and nice staff. Have had drinks there a lot over the years but only had food there once and although it was only fish and chips, it was really very nice and tasty.
Lovely pub with great atmosphere, oldie worldie. Not a big menu but enough choice to cover all tastes and the food was good. Surprised with the collection of Gin available which was well sampled!
Great food, spotlessly clean, very friendly staff. St James Tavern goes from strength to strength and I wish I lived close enough to take advantage of all the events and 'special' menu evenings.
