Cozy place with good service and serving good food. Prices are regular really, good value for money I would say. Definitely worth stopping by if you are in the area.

Lovely pub. Very generous portions of steak and cooked perfectly, good chips. Slow service but friendly so we didn’t mind. No gluten free desserts besides ice cream which surprisingly was sprinkled with biscuit crumbs, my fault assuming it’d be safe.

I like The Admiral Nelson, I have been twice when passing through Braunston on the canal. The beer selection is varied and from talking to regulars changes quite rapidly; totally different this time to last. The menu has several items (if not all ) that must be home made and there were a few specials on the mirror. I really enjoyed my pumpkin and ginger soup followed by steak and chorizo pie. Well worth a visit.

Great food, friendly staff, good beer, lovely atmosphere. Did smaller portions of any main dish for kids which made a change from the norm! Highly recommended.

This is a fantastic venue next to the canal with plenty of outdoor seating. We had a drink before being seated and the staff were fantastic. Food was spot on and I can't wait to go again.

Wonderful setting. Terrific food. Lovely people. Well worth the effort to get there. A fantastic find, hidden away at the end of a tiny country lane - the peace disrupted only by the gentle chug of the odd narrowboat.

We had booked a table for 8 (including 2 children) for lunch on a Sunday to celebrate our son's birthday. The Admiral Nelson is in a lovely canal-side setting and has a nice relaxed atmosphere. The food was excellent and although there was no specific children's menu the smaller portions provided were just right. All in all we had a very enjoyable time and would (indeed have) thoroughly recommend the Admiral Nelson to anyone looking to have excellent food in a convivial atmosphere without breaking the bank.

Brilliant food, good pleasant service, slightly pricey but worth it. Only complaint was size of portions. Huge! Both of us being "of the third age" we don't have the appetites we did and faced with Desperate Dan Cow Pie size portion of Lambshank pie was a bit daunting. Very tasty though. It was a shame in that it meant we didn't have room for the excellent looking puddings and had to make do with sharing an ice cream.

Very cosy and friendly. I had the game pie which was huge but very nice. My partner had the special burger which he also enjoyed. Service was good too. No real negatives room was a little cold which was soon rectified, it was a chilly night. Sitting by the wood burning stove though was a pleasant end to an enjoyable evening

Great food and service here. Only issue was that we were able to book a table via this app when food was not being served! Only realised as we phoned to check whether dog friendly. Could have been a disaster! Had to rearrange our plans but the steaks were worth it!

Lovely comfy sofa and cosy fire on a blustery night. Awesome chips. Steak was a little cold, but staff sorted it out with good grace. Overall a good evening.

Booked in restaurant, for my wife's birthday whilst on a weekend break, based on website menu. On arrival, Monday evening, told only bar menu was available on Mondays. This was not made clear on website or during booking. If we had known would have gone elsewhere. On a positive note the food was excellent and the service slow but acceptable for the quality. This was our second visit so we know what they are capable and will return the next time we are in the area.

Had a really lovely drink and meal with friends on New Years Eve lunchtime. The pub was busy but the staff were efficient and friendly. Only slight negative was that several things that we ordered had run out - but all the food available was delicious

Quandoo let us make a food reservation when the place was full. The lovely landlady phoned to let us know, and we went for a drink later instead. The place is very charming and the staff are very friendly.

Slow service, we had to find our own menus, ask if there were puddings and remind about our drinks order. The mains were ok, great puddings though!

When my husband, a friend and I arrived for our Sat 12 o'clock lunch booking we received a very friendly welcome and the food turned out to be delicious and very nicely presented. The only downside was that the pub was so very cold (it had been a frosty night) that the friend whom we had invited had to put on his coat on again. Not till we mentioned the coldness was the heating switched on. The ladies' loos were also very cold, but were spotlessly clean w nice decor. We will be very happy to visit again when the weather gets warmer.

an excellent Sunday Lunch including a very thick cut of sirloin beef, but be prepared for a slow service if the restaurant / bar is full. Their "Admiral beer is worth a tasting!

A nice place to spend the evening especially so in the summer right by the canal They couldn't help a noisy table of blokes and the service was very polite . Food was of a good standard with no complaints on the quality . Not too much choice for vegetarians tho . Be prepared for a large meal and if you have a smallish appetite I suggest you do not have starters . The steaks are great value and very nice - flavoursome, huge and cooked as requested . The fish and chips is equally large with very nice batter and great chips . No room though for the deserts . The only issue really was slow service which others have mentioned as well I note . Not a problem for us as we had not seen our friends for a long while so plenty of time to catch up BUT it would have been nice to have been kept in touch with explanations as to why we waited I think about half an hour for the starters. Still we would recommend it - just don't expect to be in and out quickly although I am sure if you told them you wanted to eat quickly they might oblige .
