Well worth the visit even Covid -19 restrictions in place definitely go again and recommend to friends
Friendly staff, nothing too much trouble. Delicious hot food, plenty of choice, ample portions. Not rushed to finish and move on so all in all, a very pleasant dining experience. Would highly recommend.

We booked on the basis of a recommendation from a local resident who is a big fan of the pub for its real ales and work in supporting the community with local events. The food was very good quality and value for money, and with a fast serving time. A great evening!
The Bear is a great value local pub, well run with attentive service.

Very dated decor, food at best average, service average, after reading the reviews I think we must be in the minority but we have eaten at the ship in wool and was a lot better in every department !

Fantastic Pub, fantastic food, staff are out of this world. Have been a couple of times before in the summer and sat in the garden but today on this chilly evening we had a seat in the dining room. Just excellent words don’t do it justice.
perfect as always , its the perfect end to finish a day at Monkeyworld . Good surroundings good food and a variety of beers to chose from.
Excellent food and for us, fortunately, a lovely day so we could sit out in the garden. The beer was also excellent - shame I was driving so limited to a single pint! Just love real ale.
Great place, great food - foxed my GPS...but when we eventually found it, the pub's location and what it looked like from the outside raised our expectations further...and we weren't disappointed. Perfect meal and atmosphere for a hungry couple seeking to end a day on a good note.
Great honest to goodness food. Enjoyed our meal immensely. The atmosphere was warm and unpretentious; comfortable! The service was excellent, prompt but not intrusive. We've eaten here a few times and look forward to coming back.
